Cheers lads. I have the Setanta through a digi box but I don't have Sky Sports. Looks like I will be having a rethink in the summer then.

 

I expect lfc.tv will stay on the setanta platform though

Does this have anything to do with foreign rights? I thought part of the last huge deal was thanks to Chinese TV buying rights and showing games in China on a subscription basis, but as Chinese people didn't want to pay the deal turned out to be a disaster?

 

Did I just dream this? Or are the foreign rights seperate?

I think they are separate, last time they were worth about 600m I think

My mate was laughing last night that his dad doesn't have anything on his telly these days other than LFC TV.

This is true, I have never had to deal with the scrotes, but I have seen grown men reduced to tears by Setanta.

Actually I remember hearing from a few academics that this is the growth market, and it has went up every round of talks. This is why Scudamore was talking of the 39th game. However this was pre credit crunch, so it remains to be seen. It shocked me as well.

 

One problem is that they are not sure whether or not they foreign television providers are getting decent returns.

Beeb - Good coverage - less shite pundits

Setanta - Amateur coverage 2nd rate garbage. Don't deserve to have another contract

ITV - Should be allowed to show football ever again

 

If it was up to me, would only allow Sky and the Beeb to show football.
