He's played in 9 league games out of 22 this season. He certainly wasn't injured for all of the other 13. Even when Skyrtel was injured he wasn't picked for some league games despite being fit.

I might be wrong here,but you might find the games he never played was before champions league matches.I think because he had been out for a year almost,Rafa might have thought it to risky to play him in league games before champions league matches.

 

Reason being as he hadnt played much he was more likely to pick injuries up.

Remember with Martin out injured we only have Carra and Agger as center halfs for europe.

 

Just my thoughts on it.
