Sadly that's only partly right. The days of the professional burglar sticking to shops, banks etc are long gone. Sadly there's now a breed of cunt out there now who choose house breaking as a profession and who aren't doing it to feed a drug habit.

That may be true of higher end housing. But virtually every burglar I’ve dealt with hitting working class housing are drug addicts or drug indebted, not professionals.

It was quite a while back now but yes,it did exist. It should also be said that nobody waxed lyrical about it because it was still in areas of poor quality housing and low income families where every day was a struggle. I know some people struggle to believe this but when people have so little they used to be interested in sharing rather than hoarding what they have.
