What the fuck? How's that for a coincidence? I saw the title and the first thing that came into my head was a NIN cover, then I get into the thread after getting the link to see that another NIN cover is the starter, mental.

Embedding's disabled on your vid Sammy so the links here, even though I'm assuming most will just click on the window anyway and open up youtube : YouTube - Johnny Cash Hurt

This one's by AFI, and it's Head Like a Hole :

Thanks for your patience chaps.

Chris: I couldn't find that particular link but have heard several NIN's performances of the said classic. With all due respect, to me Johnny Cash's cover of this song was his 'death rattle' which made it even more poignant and moving.

Red Phoenix: many thanks for sorting my buggery of the links up. I'm afraid I can't share the same enthusiasm about the track you put forward as it reminds me of the noise I experienced in my head when I was first introduced to 'k' (enough to knock a good sized pig over) in far off foreign land with some Irish friends/fiends and we bumped into some nutter Swedish nandrolone admirers. Strange brew. Great craic, but I'm fucked if I can remember what we were laughing about for 7 hours. My bum still hurts. BTW I queue up at Morrie's wig shop at 8am religiously each morning (beats going to church)

Remmie: Thanks, but the mere word 'sixpence' has me running for the collected works of Tommy Steele I stuffed down the back of someone else's couch on Pancake Tuesday some turpentine ago.

Being an grumpy, out of touch, auld cunt I was unaware, until recently, of the work of 'Elbow' and heard the cover of 'Teardrop'. I had serious movement up my spine. Far more than I've had in my trousers for years, it bothered me.

On a lesser note I admired 'Chocolate Genius's' take on Marvin Gaye's 'Ain't that Peculiar'. IMO, it's far better than that 'Creme Brulee' LP that my Auntie Joan palmed off on me last crimbo.
