Was gonna put something about this on the site, but I've been out all afternoon and just got back and saw this thread, so no point.

Darby was told to stay behind when the rest of the squad travelled, because of Arbeloa's suspension. As I posted on saturday, Plessis, Insua, El Zhar and N'Gog were also left out of the squad.

Flora's goal was a pen, and I heard Kelly got the second goal, not San Jose. They look like twins though so its easy to get them confused. Not sure Irwin scored either, I thought I heard Pacheco but I could have got that wrong.

Apparently the lads felt like this was their best performance of the season, they were really good and it's raised their spirits after the bad run they've had.

I don't want to take anything away from the lads, but the strength of Pompey's team probably caused their downfall. Our players will have been inspired by it, but the likes of Kanu and Utaka just won't have been arsed about this game and probably felt it was beneath them.

The same thing happened to us at Chelsea a few weeks ago when we lost 4-0. We'd beaten Chelsea 2-0 a few weeks earlier, with just the normal reserve squad. The team that started for us in London though just didn't want to know. Plessis, Insua, El Zhar and N'Gog all started, and basically couldn't be arsed. The game wasn't televised, it was away in London and they just coasted. We were three down at half time, and had been totally bullied out of the game because no-one would stand up to it or put a tackle in.

They sent on Spearing, Kelly, Irwin etc at half time and made a better fist of the second half but ended up losing 4-0, although Spearing hit the bar and they had other chances.

I'm just saying that you can't read anything into these games because a lot of the time some players just can't be arsed because they think they are better than playing in this kind of match, and when there are no cameras they know it's not like anyone will see it if they play shit.

I doubt Kanu broke out of a brisk walking pace in the entire game! A nice confidence booster for the boys though, nonetheless.
