THIEVES have broken into the home of Liverpool FC’s Brazilian star Lucas Leiva stealing prized football mementoes.

Officers were called to his house in Woolton just after 11.30pm on Tuesday and scoured the property for valuable loot.

The midfielder’s Olympic bronze medal from Beijing was taken along with a number of Brazilian and Liverpool football shirts.

He is the latest Reds star whose house has been targeted after break-ins at the wealthy homes of players including Daniel Agger, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt, Peter Crouch and Jerzy Dudek and Steven Gerrard.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that neither Lucas nor his partner were at home at the time of the burglary.

The player had been playing that night for Liverpool that night at Anfield where he had been brought on as a late substitute.

Among the items stolen are:

- the Olympic medal with a picture of a footballer kicking a ball on one side. It is approximately 3 inches in

diameter and has a red ribbon attached to it

- a collection of Brazilian football shirts, large in size, with the name 'Lucas' on the back. Each shirt has a different number on it

- a collection of Liverpool football shirts, large in size, with the name 'Lucas' on the back and all with the number 21 on the back.

Crime scene investigators have attended the address and house-to-house enquiries are taking place throughout the area.

Acting DCI Peter Parry, of Merseyside Police, said: “I would like to empathise to Mr Leiva and his partner for what must have been an upsetting experience.

“As with every burglary victim, we will be carrying out a thorough investigation and offering them crime prevention advice.

“Taken from the address was an amount of jewellery and some very distinctive football and sports memorabilia.

“These items have significant personal importance to Mr Leiva and they were associated with some very

cherished memories.

“I’d ask members of the public to be on the look out in case they are offered such items for sale either on the street or in pubs or see the items for sale on the internet.”

Police and Liverpool FC are set to speak to Lucas to discuss improved ways to protect his home against burglars.

Anyone with information about the incident or about the items listed is asked to contact Admiral Street CID on 0151 709 6010 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The fucking scum bastards, that's seriously fucked up. How does this keep happening? If I played for Liverpool I'd have a security firm watching my house for every match I played, front and back of the place. Why the players themselves don't actually do that I have no clue at all. It's just sick that people keep doing this, and the things they're taking aswell, his Olympic Medal? I hope they enjoy their fucking karma for that, and end up living in shame for a long time.

Fucking sewage scum bastards.

Some of these players have a shitload more to protect aswell, I hope to fuck that they're using their heads and making sure it's safe.

I was somewhat harshly negged by Milan for my attempt at bringing some levity to the thread.

People who break into other people's homes deserve to die slow and painful deaths. Having said that, I really think it's time Liverpool's players got together and set up a kitty whereby they all chuck in a certain amount and hire a security firm to guard their houses on matchdays. They'd hardly miss a grand a week or so, and at least they'd have piece of mind.

Of course they shouldn't have to do it, but the fact is there are a lot of cunts out there and they are targetting footballers houses.

Actually, they should just hire Big Dunk, he'd probably do it for ale money.

Now there's a man who checks his reppings and neggings quite often. I would rep you for that if I could.

And just to clearify, when I first saw the thread I thought about making a joke similar to Dave's, but then I thought nah that's too poor, but after a minute or so I changed my mind (gotta keep the post count up) and went back and found that Dave had beaten me to the punch. So that's why I negged you, not because I'm overly sensitive to home-burglings or anything!

Negged for being a slow and cautious little girl.
