I've completely lost track of what sells and what doesn't. Like most people my age I've always dreamed of writing 'that' book which makes me a million so I can live a life of leisure, but I was reading recently the average income of a British author is 12 grand a year.

Meanwhile, I read recently that Kerry Katona is a millionaire again after being bankdupt through showing her ckicken giblets on Only Fans. I also read recently about some woman who makes about 20 grand a month selling her farts in jars.

Also, 'content creators', people ranting about star wars (not creating star wars books, comics or shows, but slagging it off) are often pulling in five figures a month.

What a time to be alive.

Extroverts with no shame seem to be the ones that are flourishing at the moment, us introverts are fucked.

Living life at a disadvantage anyway in most areas of society.

Someone once said that the meek shall inherit the Earth. I have my doubts.

You don't have to be meek to be an introvert, just not an obnoxious cunt who will do literally anything to be the centre of attention.

I think introverts can be very successful, loads of musicians, writers, even comedians are introverts, definitely most artists are I imagine, which is why they escape into those worlds in the first place.

I think it's more a case of having traditional views of how to make money from creativity/the media vs the modern reality. For instance, someone told me a while back that most kids don't watch telly, that freaked me out.

I'm sure I read too that there's household names in the modern music business making about 30k a year because they get so badly shafted with streaming rights, then you've got that YouTube twat making seven figures for getting into a boxing ring with Frank Bruno or whatever.

No doubt this is true. I reckon many need the help of an extrovert or two to help them get their work/profile out there.

Not all of course, some just have the kind of talent that will always shine.

There’ll be lesser artists who achieved success far beyond their talent because they had no problem selling themselves and shouting “me me” until everyone listens.

I’ve seen this shit replicated many times in a corporate environment. Talented, decent, empathetic, hard working people, passed over for promotion because they don’t blow their own trumpet. It’s even given as a reason to dismiss them; “they don’t have the gravitas”, “they don’t manage their personal brand”, “they’re too quiet to be a leader”… A load of bollocks, but it happens way too much.

There are some industries where this happens less, Engineering is one, but the majority just promote the same types over and over.

I think there was a mistake in translation and it said 'The Meek shall never own one lousy piece of earth.'

Damn, I had my retirement all planned out too. Anyone know someone who'll take several thousand one hundred mil jars off my hands?
