a poem:

Could it be the year

Of Rafa's tapir

Playing not the best

But six points in the nest

REINA 5.3 --- No fault on the Mummy's goal, it seems Gareth has him on a slave's diet and the strike was world class. His distribution was excellent but a huge deduction for wandering late in the 2nd half almost cost us.

DOSSENA 6.2 --- first half got forward, showed some silky foot skills but the crossing (and for an Italian Catholic no less) is still lacking. There is potential and let's face it, he's not Norwegian and he's not ginge and the ball has not seen Row Z.

CARRAGHER 8.15 --- turned by Tuncay but Boro are not the same animal they were before and Tuncay is a very good player and could probably make one mean kebab. Besides that did well at the back and his impetus and drive lead to the equalizer off the unlucky Anchluss Captain Poga-tits. He claimed it as his own the leg.

SKRTEL 5.75 --- errr---you're not Peter Crouch, you wasted a free header so you're not Sami Hyypia and was a little shaky defensively. Mean looks will only take you so far.

ARDEBOLA 6.00 --- not the answer out there.

BENAYOUN--- 5.05 Lou Macari on Setanta said he was anonymous. I'd rather kiss a dead mackerel than agree with him but he's right. Yossarian is in a catch 22 as he's not a wide player and when he comes inside it clogs down because he's supposed to be out wide.

ALONSO-- 8.25 and 5.85 A Tale Of Two Halves. Excellent first half and most everything went through him, some wonderful passing and then the radar got jammed second half. Still, he's been one of the better players the last three games.

GERRARD- 8.65 Saved again by the Cappy. Something seems not quite right but who ya gonna call if you need a goal??? relatively quiet for most of the game but worked harder than anyone (yes, even perennial hard worker Dirk Kuyt) and was rewarded.

KUYT-- 6.00 Look, I'd prefer Bolo's hair out there. He's just not the man for the job. His CL run last year is papering the cracks.

KEANE and TORRES-- 7.35 The signs of the telepathic Keegan-Toshack are there and they need time. THey played some lovely stuff, and there appears to be an understanding forming with some nice interchanges that resembled good foreplay but left, at the end, a slight case of blue balls. I'm not convinced of Keane but am willing to give it time.

SUBS- BABEL (still in China I think)

AURELIO (looked good but await the inevitable injury)

EL ZHAR (who? what? where? Why Mr Kotter?)
