I heard on the World Service this morning that they are making a film of the book 'In the Heart of the Sea'. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1390411/ it appears it's getting the full treatment with Ron Howard at the helm. The voyage of the whaling ship 'Essex' from Nantucket is an epic and incredible story and was the source material for Heman Melville writing Moby Dick. I hope the film adaptation goes some way into doing it justice and doesn't get lost in Hollywood shmaltz.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Team Up with David Goyer for Sandman Movie

Last month we heard an interesting little rumour that Warner Brothers was in the process of finally setting up a big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might be starring in it. Since Joseph Gordon-Levitt seems to get mentioned in the same breath as just about every big comic book adaptation as of late, we didn’t really know how seriously to take it. But as it turns out, the story was legit. We now have confirmation that a Sandman movie is coming and JGL is indeed involved… actually, a lot more involved than we initially expected. He will reportedly act as producer, in addition to possibly playing the lead role *and* also directing the movie. How much Joseph Gordon-Levitt is too much Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

According to Deadline, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is finalizing a deal with Warner Brothers to produce aSandman movie with David S. Goyer. They also claim that he is attached to star as the protagonist and that he’s looking to direct it as well. The only thing he probably won’t be doing is writing it, as they are looking to hire a screenwriter shortly. JGL vaguely refuted some of these claims on Twitter, however:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude

Just to clarify, folks. I've signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!

I find it hard to believe that they would hire Joseph Gordon-Levitt strictly for his skills as a producer. We all know that he has aspirations to become an accomplished filmmaker and his directorial debut, Don Jon, was fairly well-received earlier this year. Granted, this would be a big step up in terms of budget and scope, but it seems like the kind of comic book property that Warner Brothers might be willing to take a risk on. What do you think, does Joseph Gordon-Levitt have what it takes to deliver a solid Sandman movie?

A few weeks ago, it was being reported that Sony was planning to expand The Amazing Spider-Man universe on screen by developing a series of spin-off films based on characters other than Spider-Man himself. At the time, we were all wondering what other characters they could possibly draw from since Spider-Man doesn’t have a ton of allies that are specific to him. A Venom solo film seemed to be the only obvious choice, and in fact, had already been previously announced. Now this week Sony has officially unveiled plans for a Venom film as well as a villain-centric spin-off called The Sinister Six, which will be separate from The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Hit the jump to see the team of writers and directors who will make this a reality.

According to a press release from Sony, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon and Drew Goddard will all be involved in these new projects in collaboration with Marc Webb and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. Kurtzman and Orci are, of course, best known for writing theTransformers and Star Trek movies, while Jeff Pinkner was a writer and producer on LostAlias andFringe. Ed Solomon wrote Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Men in Black while Drew Goddard directed The Cabin in the Woods and wrote Cloverfield. Here is how the upcoming movies will break down:

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be written by Kurtzman & Orci & Pinkner and directed by Marc Webb (they hope)

  • Venom will be written by Kurtzman & Orci & Solomon and directed by Alex Kurtzman

  • The Sinister Six will be written by Drew Goddard with an eye to direct as well

So I guess Chronicle director Josh Trank is no longer involved in the Venom movie. It’s worth noting that Drew Goddard is also currently writing the upcoming Daredevil series for Marvel and Netflix. It can’t be a coincidence that most of these people have spent a lot of time collaborating with J.J. Abrams… it seems like Sony is hoping Abrams’ success will rub off without actually having his name on it.

They have to expand the Spiderman universe as they have to put out a film every three years or loose the rights back to Disney/Marvel.

I liked the last one but would like to see them loose the rights as that would help the more crossover with the Avengers and other Marve characters,id like to see the Fantastic 4 back too

Nothing wrong with the Expendables

The first was cheese the second was a quality cheese board covered in cheese sauce.

Harrison Ford is taking over from Bruce Willis who Stallone called "Greedy and Lazy".He was offered $2ml for three days shoting, they were bringing him in and filming all his scenes at once,he demanded $3($1ml day) and Stallone told him to fuck off and replaced him
