I went through it all again last year. It was fucking brilliant. So good I could watch it again now.

Just started my fourth sitting after finishing series 1 of Godfather of Harlem, which is also a decent show. Not comparable ofcourse, but Forest Whitaker is just immense.

Have seen it two or three times and it gets better each time. I always wonder if the extra weight James Gandolfini carried after the first series contributed greatly to his early death? While he was overweight he was nowhere near the size he later became. Best tv series ever made in my book. Even the weaker episodes were fantastic.

You would think gandolfini's weight couldn't have helped him. 

 

The only epsidoes I didn't really like were the dream ones. I always felt they compromised the story, especially the big pussy story line. I also hated his Ma, her character just really fucked me off (probably the point), but I could happily fast forward through every moment she spent on screen.

I think that the dream sequence series got panned by the critics but wasn't as bad as made out. I think that the general gist was Tony Soprano thinking of himself as an average Joe and what his life would be like without the hassles of a mob boss. While fighting for his life of course.

That was the dream when he was in hospital. Then there was the dream (which is the one I meant), where he had bad seafood or something from arty , got sick and then had a dream/hallucination which made him realise pussy was a rat. And I'm pretty sure there was another dream later on too, but i can't think what that was now.

The dream stuff was all shite, as was the episode with Carmella & the Priest.

 

Wasn't any fat on the rest of it though (other than Tony).

I couldn’t stand Uncle Ju. Added a very important character to it, and was entertaining at times, but found him irritating as fuck mainly. Seen him directly through Tony’s eyes.
