Eastbourne airshow is excellent. The planes approach Eastbourne by flying right over our house, immediately turning east at Birling Gap to fly low past Beachy Head and then the prom and pier. One of the fabbest things I did after passing my test was flying the route myself, albeit in a tuppeny-bit Piper held together with gaffer tape. It was a Eurofighter to me.

It's best to have a manual, gives you more control and you can peak the revs to suit your needs. Agree a pain shifting on normal level although you can skip, I do.

Don't forget the days when they had no synchro, so you'd have to double-pump the clutch with each change.

 

My ol' fella was in the trucking game. Used to tell me stories about trying to make the ferry (way before mobile phone/sat nav). Both windows down, top off, shoes and socks off so his bare feet were on the metal pedals!

 

And people moan these days if the temp. in the office isn't 23 degrees!
