Dirk Kuyt's influence inside the club.

We need more players with the character that Dirk possesses. I definitely don't think he's the best player we could have in that position technically, but his workrate, attitude and leadership qualities make him a great player to have at the club. Plus you can't help but love the guy.

The original post wasn't about his football ability (whatever your opinion on that), it was a comment on his character and on him as an individual.

Sadly predictable that a few muppets had to trot out the same old shite and couldn't just leave alone.

Theres nothing wrong with having high standards Hamstring ;)

He scored a few goals in the Champions league fair enough but his performance levels haven't been up to stratch for a player of Liverpool football club, cant really see how anyone could deny that.

A few? Seven. Seven goals in last years Champions League. Torres scored six. Gerrard scored seven and that was when we went through all the qualifiers.

Luis Garcia scored six en route to our last champins League victory.

So, let's think a bit more the term "a few".

Kuyt first half of the season ran around alot created barely anything and scored fuck all goals

Kuyt secon half of the season ran around alot created barely anything and banged in a couple of goals in the CL

Thats how i see it.

Also Sneijder, Van Nistlerooy, Robben, Van Persie and Van der vaat where all better than Kuyt at the Euros for Holland therefore making him their worst attacking player there.

You see it wrong then. And if VdV was better than him i'm a monkey. He shit himself and dissappeared against Russia and Van Persie barely played. Dirk was only behind Sneijder in performance levels over the Italy and France games. He was immense. David Pleat was coming in his pants whilst lauding him to high heaven. He's not the best technically but he does bring things to the team that people like you fail to acknowledge because he doesn't do step overs. Fortunatly Rafa rates him and that's all i give a shit about.

Bingo.

Kuyt is immense, a strong character, a brilliant example to the youngsters, and I'm thrilled to have him in the squad. I WOULD welcome a more technically skilled option but I wouldn't sell Kuyt at all.

kuyt works his socks off, has a great attitude and never gives up. He will give 100% every game BUT he just doesn't have enough talent for me. I like the guy as he's always trying but just not enough ability IMO. Yep no doubting the goals he scored in the CL but over the course of the season he's been more bad than he's been good. Liverpool need better. But we're not going to get better this season so kuyt will get a fair crack and many games this season.

You should know by now that its not worth it, fully expect some distorted reply about how Dirk is a waste of space and how we should sell him and sign Patrick Kluivert because he scored xyz goals for Ajax and Barca.

Fair enough thats what you believe, you obviously must have a different view on football from me. I struggle to see how Kuyt performed better than V.Persie, Robben and Van der Vaat who all performed magically in the proper Dutch way, but hey thats just me. You'd probably prefer to see a hard crunching tackle then a nice piece of indivdual skill, different strokes for different folks as they say.

As i've said before for me there was very little difference in terms of Kuyts performance levels during the first and second half of the season, the only difference was he managed to score a few goals during the second half of it. Also how can you poin to his performances at the Euros? he was probably Hollands worst attacking player there.

Dirk was exceptional in the group stages of euro 2008. Scored against France. He's one of the only "men" in our team, one who can stand up and be counted in the big games. What Dirk lacks in ability he doubles it in his workrate. Hes a class act, great professional and a huge asset to Liverpool Football Club. I've given him alot of stick this year but i take it all back and ill salute the hero that is Dirk Kuyt.

Not true at all. Watch the Italy and France games again, Dirk was fantastic. I wouldn't have him in my starting 11 this season and i recognise his limitations. That said, i also recognise that he is still an important player who has many attributes, notably scoring massive goals in massive games. Top pro and a very good player (if not quite a great player).

Also, i'd much rather see skill than a tackle. I'm a number 10 myself dontcha know ;)

If you want anyone in our squad as your "mate" it would be Dirk. I can imagine him being loyal, a good laugh and someone who won't walk away when you are going through a hard time. He also contributes hugely to charity and has his own foundation. A legend as a human being.

How is it even in question? Kuyt was integral to the Dutch victories over Italy and France.

Robin Van Persie or Arjen Robben would NEVER have been able to set up that brilliant goal against Italy.

When Netherlands went hiding against Russia, who wasn't on the pitch? Coincidence? I think not.

Frankly I think Kuyt will be out in a year or two. Rafa has literally thrown out one player after another and I reckon Kuyt could (mainly due to lack of transfer money) be a sellable asset in one of the forthcoming windows. Perphaps as early as next summer.

Robben was on the bench for the Italy and Russia game ( didn't even come on) . He started on the bench versus France and played half a match and was subbed after half a game against Romania so it appears that Van Basten also doesn't share your views.

Could Kuyt destroy teams like Robben and van Persie do? :no

Also dont you think Kuyt was taken off because he was preforming bad and wasn't offering much in attack? what exactly would he have if he stayed on?

Come on Unrighteous dont bring me such pitifull arguments :thumbdown

He's having a little tantrum.

According to wikipedia

People who have neurological disorders such as the combination of autism and/or mental retardation[1] are more prone to tantrums than others, although anyone experiencing forebrain damage -- temporary or permanent -- can suffer from tantrums. Everyone has tantrums once in a while

Sure its nothing to worry about.
