Honourable mention for nepotism in The Shield, Cassidy (Chicklis's real life daughter) Corrine (Ryan's real life wife) and Ronnie (Ryan's mate) all comfortably the worst actors I've ever seen on telly, although Ronnie is shit in a good way.

I do wonder how much they could have ramped the drama up though if there'd been a Carmella Soprano (as in quality of actor) for Vic. Especially in the scenes with Kavanaugh.

Just noticed that one of the coppers who gets shot in the last episode of the first season is Paula, who from then on is always on cage/desk duty. Boss that, it's never mentioned in dialogue that she's too shook up to go back on the street.

Tell you something else, I don't reckon there's ever been a greater concentration of amazing actors in one show. Chiklis, Goggins, CCH Pounder and Whittaker especially, seeing them all going at it in one episode is unreal.

Unfortunately, it's not on youtube, so 12:00 - 13:50 on this:

Because The Shield is only forward, always pushing on, the only time we get any real backstory on Antwon is this interrogation. Our hero gunslinger is revealing his terrifying backstory, but only for the purpose of breaking him and getting him to reveal his part in murdering two police officers.

There's loads of extreme shit in the show, but as you watch it more and more, you see that is not for shock value. It's to expose and reveal who and what people are at their core.
