Who's your favourite stand up comedian?

He's my favourite, has been for years.

His podcast is absolute chaos.

Not a fan of comedian podcasts, they don't tend to be very funny as they aren't using their honed material. Tried Stanhope, Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer and they were all shite.

Gossipmongers with Joe Wilkinson is the exception to that but even then there is a gimmick and the funniest stuff comes from the submissions.

I don’t get the Bert Kreischer appeal as a stand up, all he has is his ‘Machine’ story.

Tim Dillon’s is something I listen too every week, along with intermittent listenings of Bad Friends, This Past Weekend with Theo Von, Honeydew with Ryan Sickler (best laugh in comedy) Burr, YMH (not as much these days), Matt & Shane’s secret podcast, Stanhope, We Might Be Drunk, and Marc Maron.

I've seen a few saying they think Paul Smith is decent Not for me, Clive.  That whole "audience banter" shtick is sound for about ten minutes maximum, not for your whole act.

I think the last stand up i watched was Stewart Lee's Snowflake/Tornado. the whole "Reginald Farrell" bit genuinely had me crying laughing. I also watched about ten minutes of that toothy blonde lad (the one who's mates with Romesh Ranganathan... and his name escapes me) and for the same reasons as the Paul Smith dislike above, i couldn't go any further in. Woeful.

We used to be really lucky and have a comedy club up the road from us where relatively big touring comics would practice new routines.

It was great, we saw all the people mentioned above, and more, for a fiver.

Favourite recent show was Mike Birbiglia who did a residency in London, which was really gentle, considered, but hilarious.

I’m not sure how much he classes as a standup and he doesn’t tell jokes in the traditional sense, but I saw Mike Wozniak last year and it was probably the consistently funniest hour I can remember.

he told a long, untrue story with a million tangents and diversions and it was utterly brilliant.

similarly so was Ross Noble but in a very different way. I don’t think he finished a single sentence or thought for the entire show, and it felt like every line was spontaneously uttered, which is a hell of a skill.

Watched all of BC’s World tour of Scotland.  Brilliant stuff.

Brilliant isn’t it. Some of his best stand up clips are from that tour. What a man.

The Australia one is equally as superb.

Me and her have watched Last One Laughing on Prime, and whilst it was populated with supposed ‘comedians’ without doubt , Bob Mortimer is one of the, funniest bastards, ever.
Not sure if he classes as a trying to work at their act comedian, he just is one of life’s naturally, funny bastards.

Just recently watched Billy Connolly's tour of America from 2019 before the Parkinsons Disease took a hold. Quite poignant and sad to look back upon but a nice memento to have.

Is that the route 66 thing? If so that’s brilliant.   He mentions it in one of his books too.

I went to a comedy club on Saturday.

First guy was a black bisexual from Edinburgh who spent 20 minutes going on about how hard it is being black & bisexual in Edinburgh.

Second bird was a Liverpudlian lesbian with mental health issues, who spent 20 minutes going on about how hard it is being a lesbian with mental health issues.

Third guy was a posh, English, gay teacher, who was calling blokes in the crowd 'Angel'. Camper than Christmas this cunt.

Fourth guy was some Weegie, a Poundland Kevin Bridges really but by the time he came on I was ready to commit genocide so he was at a loss straight away.

It wasn't my idea to go & my two mates were blootered and kept speaking to me while these unfunny cunts were on stage & the bouncer gave me a row twice for talking when it wasn't even me.

Never again.

I know a  gay black adopted Glaswegian over here. Funny as fuck, hard as nails, but never felt the need to get on a stage to do it.
