Leeds United: Reds youngster on trial

Liverpool youngster Astrit Ajdarevic was due to begin his pre-season trial with Leeds United today with a view to securing a transfer to Elland Road.

Ajdarevic was expected to report to Thorp Arch this morning and he could feature in two of United's reserve-team friendlies this week.

The League One club are interested in recruiting the Swedish midfielder, who turned 18 in April and is entering ADVERTISEMENTthe final year of his contract with Liverpool's Academy.

Leeds were initially believed to be considering a loan deal for Ajdarevic but reports on Merseyside suggest he would be allowed to leave Anfield and take up a permanent deal elsewhere this summer.

United's second string tackle Darlington on Thursday and are also planning to contest a friendly against Newcastle United in Tyneside on Saturday morning, and Ajdarevic has been lined up to appear in both matches.

Gary McAllister is also maintaining his interest in Ajdarevic's Anfield team-mate Krisztian Nemeth, the highly-rated Hungarian striker who helped lead Liverpool to the FA Premier Reserve League title last season.

Nemeth is believed to be unwilling to take up United's offer of a trial at Thorp Arch, but the gifted 19-year-old is still open to a loan switch to Elland Road if McAllister pursues a deal.

The youngster scored nine times for Liverpool's second team during the 2007-08 term and appears to be edging closer to Rafael Benitez's senior squad.

He is currently involved with Hungary at the European Under-19 Championship finals in the Czech Republic and netted the only goal of the game in his country's opening group game against Bulgaria yesterday.

It was Nemeth's six goal in the competition overall and makes him the leading scorer alongside Michalis Pavlis of Greece.

Ajdarevic is one of a number of trialists who have already linked up with Leeds for the early stages of the English pre-season.

Meanwhile, Stoke are close to making Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson their first summer signing.

The clubs are said to have agreed a fee for the England international of around £4m.

The 22-year-old who started his career at Leeds United spent the whole of last season on loan at Aston Villa, who were were put off by a reported £10million price tag.

Former Scotland star Dominic Matteo has pleaded for help in tracking down the 'knuckleduster' thug who battered Rangers No.2 Gary McAllister.

It's believed former Scotland and Leeds captain McAllister lost three teeth in the brutal attack in Leeds at around 4am on Sunday.

The 54-year-old was treated in hospital after he was set upon outside a bar on Call Lane in the city centre.

The Ibrox coach was waiting for a taxi with his wife Haley when the attack took place.

"The attack was totally unprovoked and very vicious. Gary was hospitalised, lost three teeth and had plastic surgery on his lip which needed 12 stitches.

"The attacker is thought to be American and due to the severity of the injuries may have been wearing a ‘knuckleduster’.

"The attacker also assaulted and hospitalised four other people including two women in further incidents
but as yet has not been caught.

"Can you please share. If you know anything or may know someone who may have seen or know anything that can help find this cowardly p**** please contact West Yorkshire Police."

It saddens me how it's apparent that some arseholes defintely do go out with the intent to cause others harm and bring them misery, whereas the majority simply go out to have fun.

I have a solution. Throughout each weekend night, the coppers need to round these dickheads up and keep the soft twats in a holding cell. Then on the hour, every hour between 10pm and 5am, they should let them out and publicly pit them against each other, in a battle to the death, battle royale, knock fuck out of each other fest.

A big fucking cage in the town square, and let the decent fun loving people watch and have a laugh at their expense.

The last man or woman standing gets a free pass and gets dropped off by troop carrier in Kabul high street, free to walk home.
