Evening all,

Given that my usual haunt of RAOTL seems to have disappeared for the evening, I thought it was about time I made use of my registration on here and said hello.

To be honest, I don't really know what to put in a first post - I'm 25, kop season ticket holder since I was 6 and currently doing a MA in Metaphysics at the University of Nottingham.

Since Easter I have run a 'matched betting' school for raotl forum members on a private section of the site - to cut a long story short it's a way of making money from online bookmakers risk free. The average forum member has turned £150 into over £650 (i.e. £500 profit). I did register with OTK to ask whether anyone would be interested in it there, but they didn't seem overly keen.

Anyway, I know a few of the raotl lads post on here too, so they should be able to put a good word in for me. It was a shame to see the fanzine go though - I had every issue from about 94 - 98, and plenty after that date. All good things must end I guess.

If this place is anything like the rattle, then I'm expecting questions about man bags, COHT, wool/scouseness and the size of my girlfriend's tits.

Fire away.

John

Are you a rocket scientist then?

No, but I did study Theoretical Physics for 3 years at the University of Manchester before I did my second degree at Nottingham (Philosophy), now doing my MA which means I've been a poor student for 7 years. Thankfully it's all over in September (I'm on a 12 month course).

Nice quote from Mr Marley by the way.

If you're interested, Metaphysics is the study of concepts, entities and things in general that lie beyond the scope of conventional physics (Greek 'meta' meaning beyond, although the term is actually derived from the fact that Aristotle wrote a book called the physics, then one after about this kind of thing - hence it was given the name metaphysics, literally beyond or after the physics). So I'm interesting in ontology (what exists), epistemology (issues of justification, truth and such like), normative and metaethics (what you should do in a given situation and why you should do it) and a few other strange areas. Causation is another big metaphysical worry, it's quite a weird area of study to honest.

Bloody hell, you lost me in the first sentence!

But welcome aboard!

So, a narky badger or a polar bear armed with a knife. Who wins?

John

John was quizzical, studied metaphysical science in the home. Late nights all alone with a test tube, oh oh oh oh.

Welcome by the way.

FUCK OFF MOMO!

(someone had to say it, right?)

I'm assuming you were aiming at...

FOR FUCKS SAKE RISSE!

but yeah that's about right.

As for the gambling side of things the private forum on raotl is actually open to anyone who asks me by pm or on the main board for access, it's only private to stop it showing up in google (ie so that bookies can't easily find out where their odds are out).

Lessons are free, profitable and risk free. Ask the kids on the rattle (or join there)...

As for all the welcomes, cheers - should I be worried about being 'negged' - should i even care?

Sounds fucking ace. Ms Stu has done some physics and some of the DVD's she's brought back about it have been mind-blowing.

Dark matter, quarks and all that shit; it's interesting stuff.

Stick to trying to make the trains run on time.

Physics- failed that in Gr. 11 because the girl who sat to my left had big norks and big 80s hair (it was the 80s).

Spent alot of time after class when it was time to change classrooms with the big Physics textbook in front of my pants.
