James Milner

He's better than all our "wingers" (if you can even call them that - I prefer calling them shite pegs in round holes). Yossi isn't even a winger but he's always stuck out on the left and puts in good performances. I just wish Rafa could have given him the "Gerrard" role for a change and dropped that shithouse Lucas and put Gerrard at CM.

But obviously that would be the most logical thing to do, which is totally un-Benitez.

Either way, Milner is a good solid player, and better than any player we have on the wings.

I remember when Pennant had had a couple of better than abysmal games and talked himself up in the press about how he deserved to be called up to the England squad.

I said even J.Milner was far more deserving of a place in the England set up than Pennant and got dogs abuse for it.

I guess I was on to something after all.

I think he is a tidy player who can play in different positions and do a job in all of them without being spectacular in any of them.

He has got a good cross, a good shot, he has got good overall technique and he works hard so personally I think he would be a solid improvement for us right now.

I've got to agree here. I wasn't keen on adding Milner a while ago, but now I'd definitely take him.

Most improved player of the season as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to bother reading what I said about him when we were linked with him at the start of last season, as it was probably along the lines of 'he's fucking shit', but in hindsight, I wish we would have signed him instead of Riera.

Hope he plays shit tonight though.

I was disappointed when we were linked with James Milner as I thought he was very mediocre at Newcastle, but in hindsight James Milner would have been a great signing. He has improved greatly at Aston Villa and 4 league goals and 8 assists so far this season is a great return.

Although Ashley Young has been quieter this season compared to last season, he and Milner on the flanks would greatly improve our team. I thought both were excellent when they beat us 3-1 at Anfield earlier in the season.

Milner apparently plays central for Villa with Young and Downing on the wings.

Now that Downing has recovered from injury, Milner has played in central midfield but when Villa beat us at Anfield earlier in the season, he and Young were on the flanks and I thought they were both excellent in that game. Milner is a very versatile player and the kind that Rafa likes.

Only we've got to settle for Kuyt
