I like Glenn Johnson. Used to think he was shit and couldn't defend, but he's improved a lot. He steals toilet seats though, and that concerns me a little.

he could save us a bit of cash on the new stadium

The lad's always had potential but I think people have stopped watching him or at least aren't able to see past the fact he played for Chelsea and accept that he's improved a fair bit.

He was overrated before but I think he's come on loads in the last 2 seasons and is a good player now who would be even better playing alongside Carra et al and with other good players around him. Trust in Rafa (this time).

Agree with that. He desperately needs the experience of regular first team football but sitting on the bench waiting for Carling games or bob to get injured or suspended is not really the answer for him or for us. He should be sent off on loan for a season to a club where he will be first choice and then come back and challenge for a place.

Same goes for Spearing, San Jose and Nemeth. They need to go elsewhere and prove they can make the grade because the straight step-up from reserve team level is one which only the truly exceptional are likely to make.

Darby and Spearing are 21 later this year the lack of regular football is a massive hindrance. I don't know anything about these two lads personally but would hope they would be pushing for such a move on loan next season. I doubt there are many players who get past 21 who have not made an impression, go on to make the grade at the highest level. You only need to look at how Johnson progressed since leaving Chelsea to see the difference it makes. No matter what trash people say about some of the young foreign lads they are prepared to push themselves out of their comfort zone I'd like to see a lot of the local lads do similar things.
