There's a girl who sits opposite me at work who used to see Yakubu when he lived up here playing for 'Boro. Since she split up with him she's got engaged to a Jamaican fella so obviously she likes that kinda guy so to speak!

 

Anyway, she's still on good terms with Yakubu etc and we sometimes have a chat about him. She's an Everton fan because of him so we have a bit of banter although she's not a big fan really. Anyway, today she's talking away on her Blackberry and says, 'okay, i'll see you in a minute, bye'. She turns around and says, 'Yakubu's picking me up and we're going for some lunch, I haven't seen him for about a year'.

 

So Yakubu pulls up outside in a Range Rover to pick her up ('he's got a Bentley as well' apparently) and as she's getting up to go I said to her, 'XXX, do us a favour. Ask Yakubu for me if he knows who Purple Aki is; it's a local joke and he'll love you for it'.

 

'No probs, i'll let you know what he says on Monday'.

On that Wikipedia page, I took the liberty of correcting the bit about the song Everton fans sing about him.

Good stuff, worthy of rep.

 

And how come you only have 6 posts after almost 5 years of posting here? That's some serious lurkage.
