Why is our form so good?

Its a totally different set of circumstances to what we had before.

Most importantly the manager is no longer dead man walking (well not until today anyway) and therefore the players can no longer take the piss

Also the players have got used to dealing with the situation which was very knew to them when it all kicked off

The manager also found a formation that suits his favourite players and its seems to be working

Pure wank.

The manager finally got the players to play the formation again with confidence.

1) Alonso returns. Pity Agger didn't aswell.

2) He was prepared to start Babel.

Then he reintrodued his 4-2-3-1.

I was thinking the exact same thing today, actually. It pretty much gives lie to the assertions made earlier in the season that behind the scenes factors were the reason for our dip in form. In fact, you can go back and look at most of the match threads and see quite clearly the reasons for our dip in form - some of us were pointing them out before the games had even begun.

because we are playing the best 11 or very close to it all the time

Agreed. OK someone is bound to say its because of rotation, players are fitter etc but it didnt do us any favours for the filth game before Mascherano got sent off. We also looked very jaded against the arse at Anfield for the first 20 mins too.

Strongest 11, week in, week out. Simple as.

Come off it, ziggie! Our players weren't nervous, why the feck should they with the experience we've got?

Partially because of the change in formation and partially because Arsenal started so well. Look at the difference after they settled a bit and then levelled it. The poor start was in no way down to tiredness.

Just playing devils advocate here, so take it easy superfans.

But the behind the scenes shit storm currently brewing seems far worse than the one we had earlier in the season, yet our form doesn't appear to have been affected, in fact, we seem rather settled on the playing front, formation-wise especially. The results, bar the standard United capitualtion, have been great.

Why is this the case?

You've answered your own question. A settled team and formation, unfortunately once again the season was nearly over before Rafa realised the answer to the problem.

Things people forget we lost Agger and Alonso in the same match Javi wasnt able to play everygame due to transfer Lucas Babel Pennant Benayoun Torres Vorinin all playing first season together Skrtel only in from Jan and had there best start to a prem season ever and yet team have maintaned there challange even with all the shit that is going on off the field

Next season the core of this team will be settled and with good quality additions will improve further

This is the first season where we have ended a season thinking we dont have to bring in half a team just quality sinings that improve the team the squad strength is good enough just give me quality and pace in key areas and i will be happy for the start of next season

Rotation.

We are the only team currently with the freshest legs yet minimal injuries, bar the long term ones ie Agger & Kewell.

This gives us a huge advantage towards the end of the season, where trophies are won or lost.

This is the whole idea behind the rotation policy from the start. Its well thought out, so why does no one recognise it when it works when its supposed to?

It's a combination of early season rotation and playing a settled team but if he didn't rest players early in the season then maybe they'd be burnt out by now. Look at Arsenal.

Of course if we had quality to replace quality earlier in the season then maybe we wouldn't drop so many points and be out of the running by crimbo.
