Here's the Benny Goodman version with Gene Krupa on drums...

Yep fantastic, the original Goodman version is from 1938 at Carnegie Hall I have the disc of the full concert with greats who played on it Harry James Lionel Hampton Krupa Teddy Wilson and more, but i thought the more condensed Louis Prima version would appeal more to the younger folks

That's incredible. All the plaudits coming out now, but where were his superstar mates when he needed a few quid? I don't know, i don't know the details but it seems pretty unfair!

I'm not sure he needed a few quid, he always seemed fairly happy with his lot to me & the session musicians generally knew what they were signing up for financially.

You need to write the melody or the lyrics to get any royalties (unless agreed otherwise) so drummers often tend to end up with the least of the money.

Reposting this from 9 years ago, as I'm still very much entranced and hypnotised by these two Paul Simon tracks.

The second, with an iconic drum riff throughout, delivered by long time Paul Simon collaborator, drummer, Steve Gadd.

The man himself, Steve Gadd, giving a short demo on how the riff is constructed...

Thought this might interest some of you.  I was looking for some videos on Al Jackson jr the Stax house band drummer. I love the studio bands that played on all the old tracks and most people don't have a clue. Add Roger Hawkins to thst(Swampers/Muscle Shoals)
