1922: A Liverpool spokesman has told BBC Sport he has heard nothing about Javier Mascherano's supposed permanent transfer to the Anfield club. Now that's not to say it won't happen, but let's maybe hold fire on it for a sec

Don't panic Tedwin, that will be Parry speaking.

Read a thread started by Dave U called snippets, for the details.

He is worth that though.

Thats a good deal then if thats true. I didnt think we would have the money splash out £18m on a midfielder who doesnt score goals.

Its the attacking department that we need to be spending big on. With Torres and Gerrard our only reliable match winners, we need Babel to step up a level or three next season and atleast one outstanding winger to come in.

Don't get the obsession with goals.

Or the general obsession with what a player can't do, as opposed to what he can.

Makalele doesn't score, but he was as responsible for Chelsea's 2 titles as any of their other players.

Masch is the best in the business at what he does, and every team needs quality like that. He's also a winner and someone who will always fight to the end.

We do need better attacking players, but we also need Masch. The two need not be mutually exclusive or you just end up with the Liverpool of the mid 90's.
