Boobpedia? What a time to be alive.

I thought the action scene where section 31 dispensed with the Klingons was excellent stuff.

At the risk of sounding like a moaning fanboy though I'm not convinced with the route they're going down with section 31. The fact they've got their own badges that makes them identifiable, and that the rank and file know about their existence.

What made them awesome in deep space nine (where one was played by William saddler, the baddie from die hard 2 - brilliantly - was that they'd been around for 200 years and nobody knew.

What makes them a fascinating organisation is that the very ethos of humans in star trek is that it's a utopian society, where people no longer do heinous shit, even if it costs them their own lives.

But behind the scenes has been this rogue organisation that does exactly the opposite. It commits genocide, assassinates people, you name it, in order to let your rank and file human continue to feel good about themselves while staying safe at the same time.

I'm really confused by the timeline.  I had it penned as after all of the other star treks due to the "no-one ha seen a Klingon in years" stuff from early in season 1 and the technology of the spore drive etc.  Then it turns out that the original enterprise was on it's 5 year mission during the kick off and Spock is knocking around.

It's set ten years before the original Kirk and Spock series but 100 years after Enterprise. The Klingons were in that but apparently hadn't been seen for years before Discovery.

Pike was the original captain of the enterprise in the first star trek pilot but was replaced by Shatner as Kirk in the second pilot. One of the reaons the original was canned was because the networks considered it too progressive as the first officer was a woman. This was in the 50s. Another reason I love start trek. It's always had balls.

Watched Episode 4 yet?

I thought it was good. I'm not mad on the one-off episodes, but the character development was pretty good.

Yeah I didn't know what to make of it to be honest. It was the most TNG style episode they've made so far but in the pace that Discovery is filmed. It was okay I'd say. Van Sprang is tweeting about the next episode so He must be in it which should be good.
