He was wearing a sheet and a gold hairband.

That was Dave Usher....he's become a bit 'bewildered' since all this frightful server trouble....bless him.

I think G&H will end up getting the finance they need and we'll trundle along. They have already said that success for them (in a financial sense) is not necessarily about success on the pitch, but rather brand loyalty (fans).

"It was the best of times...it was the worst of times..."

We wait to see if the loans materialise or whether DIC get in.

A few people on various forums saying its been on 5live and radio merseyside that Hicks is saying he isn't selling.

Mind you, his word has zero credibility now so wouldnt read to much into that though my gut feeling is he wont sell anyway.

Just heard that. Spokesman says they will not be selling all or any part of the club. Catergorically denying rumours was the phrase (sp)

I can't wait to hear their excuse for not being able to get the stadium build going.

I don't mind staying at Anfield, but it's just more proof of their lies.

I think that we are talking about some of the most pivotal days of the club's history here. The pressure is on Hicks because he can make his profit and go or he can dig in and try and push this refinancing.

I get negative feelings about his willingness to sell, but I think he will. I am still of the belief he released the Klinsmann story as part of an exit strategy. "They don't like us, we're getting death threats etc" instead of "We couldn't run a football club if our lives depended on it."

I think we have got them by the balls now. Hicks appears to have alienated the entire board and I don't doubt for one second it will be the end of him. If everyone sticks together and keeps their heads he can be driven out. He can't stay here, the fans will make his life hell and he will have to leave. I only hope we can get that sorted out before the refinancing deal. Some don't think it important, I think it is essential that that does not go through. If we stop that, Hicks is fucked.

As for DIC and Gillett, we'll have to see. I think Gillett will very quickly leave, he will make a bit of profit and have done with it. The problem doesn't lie with him, it lies with that fat odious smarmy abrasive lying fat twat.

Big days coming up for LFC.

Sounds like Hermes is about then after all.

He's denying rumours when there's some very reputable media sources saying they've been talking to DIC for months.

Can't believe a word he says.

Let's keep the pressure on.

Can't see it mate. He's here to stay.

Don't know much about Tony Barrett and don't doubt he's been fed info, but you have to wonder who by and for what gain. Maybe Moores?

But it sounds like he's jumped the gun on this one.

Why do people keep calling me Momo? Is it an in joke?

I'm starting to get a bit paranoid.

This is the first time I've been on here. I was a regular on TIA and haven't been on any forums for a while.

In December he denied he'd been speaking to DIC:

But, speaking to the ECHO from his private jet, Hicks said last night: “I just want to clear up with you that I am not selling any of my shares to anybody.

“I have no idea why anyone would think that. It was just rubbish.”

Tom Hicks: I'm not selling my half of Liverpool - Liverpool Echo.co.uk - 1st December 2007.

Yet this week The Echo reported this interest in selling 15% to DIC. On the same day they reported what Hicks told them about chatting to Klinsmann.

Big fat, Yank bullshitter.

Ah right, cheers. Had a few of those on TIA. Best to ignore them, they soon get bored and go back to gay porn.

As I said, I don't doubt Barrett has written it in good faith, I just wonder who was feeding him the info and why.

It's difficult to read between the lines with so much info out there and spin.

Been doing some diggin on Parry (though I guess many on here will know this), and it's alleged that when he was Premier league Chief and negotiating the very first PL Tv deal, he passed on certain info of ITVs bid to Sky in order to engineer a higher bid. Funnily enough getting a substantial bonus on completion of the Sky deal. Fast forward 10 years (ish) and it's now alleged that Parry passed on key details of DICs bid to G&T in order to incease the price, Parry stayed on and pocketed a job from G&T. So maybe, just maybe, he's actually passing on important details to DIC to do the right thing for once and get Hicks out.

In one morning my view on Parry has compeltley changed.

I think you might be getting him mixed up with Alan Sugar? At the very first meeting of the Premiership chairmen, which he attended due to his position at Spurs, they were all discussing the initial bids. At the first opportunity Sugar relayed back to Sky that they had been blown out of the water by the ITV bid and needed to go in much stronger. Sugar was going to be providing the satellite dishes through Amstrad you see, so it made sense for them to win and make him richer. Just one of the many, many times that vested interests have played a role in the future of the top level of our game.

You're both right. Parry decided during that very first meeting that he was going to leak details to Sky. However, by the time he actually got round to relaying the information to those that mattered, Sugar had already done it and Sky were in fact into their third deal.

Ha! I'm saying Parry is slow! He probably didn't even have his phone on! For twelve years!

Liverpool owners deny sale claims

Liverpool's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have denied reports they are planning to sell the club.

Dubai International Capital, who failed in to buy the club last January, have been linked with a second bid.

It has been rumoured DIC are planning to bid for the 50% stake in Liverpool owned by Hicks.

A spokesman for the two Americans said: "Any suggestion Hicks and Gillett are contemplating a sale of the club or any portion of it is categorically untrue."

DIC founder and chairman Sameer Al-Ansari was the man responsible for the takeover bid a year ago, but Liverpool owner David Moores had a last minute change of heart and opted to sell to the Americans.

"It took me two weeks to get over that," said the 44-year-old al-Ansari, a life-long Liverpool said.

Hicks has to be a willing seller and I don't think he is, he will ride out the storm

"But it didn't dent my passion - I still go to every match when I'm here."

Al-Ansari, who has also recently been linked with Sir Richard Branson's move to take over building society Northern Rock, has maintained contact with Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry.

The club's current owners have come under fire from supporters recently after it emerged they had held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann about replacing Rafael Benitez as manager.

Hicks and Gillett are in process of refinancing the loan they took out to buy the club and have the added pressure of an expensive new stadium to fund.

It is uncertain how Gillett's position at the club would be affected should the DIC group buy his partner's share at Anfield.
