Conclave

It was good (7/10); great cast, decent story.

But if you're trying to tell a story, and you've chosen English as the language, then for me it's imperative to either have it all in English or subtitle the parts that are not.

It's like writing a book then tearing out random pages.

Those music biopics don't appeal to me at all, they're so sterile & un-authentic. I'd sooner read a book about the artist.

They keep threatening to make a Keith Moon one, which would be absolutely fucking atrocious.

They tend to follow the same formula (which meant that Walk Hard was able to get a lot of digs in without targeting one particular film).

or maybe I’m going a bit deaf?

No you're not(well you might be)

Same with most movies now, especially Nolan ones. What's the point if you keep asking, "what did they say then?" Especially when the answer is, "don't know"

That and small subtitles in a font colour that clashes with the background.

Do they not watch the final cut?

John Wick 4. 140 kills/10.

It was just a fuckin dog.

Good Will Hunting. 9/10.

Never wanted to watch this? Great film, script and cast.

Lethal Weapon 1. 6 sons of bitches/10.

Shit start with Mel Gibsons, look at me I'm mad. Once he stopped doing that not bad for Saturday night. The matinee show wasn't bad either.

They said, "sonofabitch more times that Jonathan's kill rate.

I mostly agree, the likes of Ray, Walk the Line, Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody, I find them all a bit cringe.

However, I loved Elvis, and The Doors.

I love Phoenix but I found it all a bit meh, though it's probably my aversion to country music.

I'm waiting for a Rick James biopic.

A James Brown one could be good if they told the truth

Saw Nosferatu at the cinema last night.

Really enjoyed it, maybe 20 minutes too long between acts 2 and 3.

7/10.

Apparently the sequel is going to be about a ballet dancing vampire.

Saw Nosferatu a couple of nights ago. I watched the original silent Nosferatu (1922) the night before, to refresh my memory, itself a non rights take of the original Dracula book by Bram Stoker, published in 1897.

For me, it is a very very good film. The cinematography is superb and I’d love to see it get a nod at the Oscar’s. Costumes, Make up and Special Effects all brilliant. Musically exquisite. There are some great scenes where the silence is compellingly scary as well.

For me, it’s a superior film to 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula (starring Gary Oldman) which for me is too cliche’d.

9/10

Here’s a very good review by a Dr of psychology for those that like the more scientific analysis of our dark stories. Incidentally, the Director of Nosferatu (Robert Eggers) is married to a Psychologist and I would hazard a guess that she was consulted heavily. The occult seems to crop up in some of his other work as well. Be aware with this video there are SPOILERS.

Can't really think of a film I want to see less than the Bob Dylan one.

It's a shame because I like Chalamet, but I don't warm to Dylan much, I just don't see the fuss.  It's a bit like Springsteen or Roy Orbison, I'm not buying what they're selling.

Maybe I'll give it a go on a slow night in March.

I used to feel that way about Dylan before seeing the error of my ways. The man contains multitudes.

Until the final 5 minutes. It was an easy 8/10 movie.

But the final was out of context with anything else in the movie, I had to mark it down a 3/10.

Really silly ending.

It reminds me of an English teacher I had back in secondary school. Whenever we where given the task of writing an essay/story, she'd always remind us.

"if anyone ends their story with, it was all a dream, that's automatic F"

Let's just say, Mrs Murphy didn't proof read the script!

100% agree with Stouff and I also agree with Red Shift as well, in so far that this pisses all over the Oldman version of Dracula.

Special praise reserved for Willem Defoe too, who just seems to roll up for films, hamd it up and steals every scene he's in.
