Hopefully that's the end of that piece of shit being in the public eye.

$110m for a music biopic is insane money. Isn't this what producers are for, to put the blocks on stupidity?

Apparently Bohemian Rhapsody was made for $50m & Rocket Man was made for $40m.

So ge could have done it for significantly less without being a CGI Monkey, because, erm, he just had to be one for reasons nobody can fathom.

I know he’s popular in Europe, I never thought he was popular in the US. I seem to remember him whining that he prefers LA because nobody recognises him… he never had the reach of Queen & Elton John etc whoever authorised $110m should be fired, pun not intended.

Saw some of Williams' art in a gallery in Amsterdam. I wanted to hate it, but it was alright.

Not a great anecdote, but there you go.

Van Gogh would have clipped his other ear off knowing he’d have to share a city with that talentless fuck.

He's always like to portray the "tortured genius" vibe has Williams. He's a limited talent at best, cheeky chappy dancer. Fair play, but worthy of a biopic? Not sure.

Agreed.

Especially as everyone knows it’s the guy from World Party who wrote all Williams hits.

I don't think that's true.  He wanted to be famous, then he was.  Then he wanted to be taken seriously, which he never was.  Now he's actually reconciled himself to the fact that he's just a light entertainer, as in 70's Saturday night TV light entertainer, and he's happy with that.  That's the arc of the film.

Even Val Doonican and Vince Hill had some success with recording.  So it is with him. Limited singer, good at showing off.

Funny I’ve never seen you and Val Doonican in the same room….

Number 24

An effective and affecting look at the Norwegian resistance to the Nazis in WWII.

Very good movie, and as I'm sure I've mentioned elsewhere, probably up-thread, I'm pleased to see these stories continuing to be told (and in this case so well told).

Listen to the Podcast and the Rest is Entertainment with Richard Osman and Marina Hyde. They discussed the funding of this film this week

Could you kindly provide a summary please?

I realise companies go to investors to limit risk, still, some are in for a big loss.

I think it was the cgi which made it so expensive

There was also an inexplicable big push in america where no one knows who he is.

Funny.

As a few of us have said, he’s not famous enough, interesting enough or anywhere important enough, to warrant a biopic, especially at that cost.

The lass says it should have cost £25m, even then, it would still have been a flop.

No doubt it’ll do well on streaming but it’ll still need millions and millions of downloads to even coming close to breaking even.

Saw Nosferatu at the cinema last night.

Really enjoyed it, maybe 20 minutes too long between acts 2 and 3.

7/10.

Apparently the sequel is going to be about a ballet dancing vampire.
