Carry on, proper retro action film Die Hard style, thought it was brilliant. The lead is kind of an anti John McClaine who's a bit of an aimless bum (I can relate) who gradually gets his shit together.

Some actors from top shows reunited too. Juice fom sons of anarchy, uncle hank from breaking bad, the lead from Ozark, David Aceveda from The Shield. Genuinely wondered if the casting choices were an homage to telly from a better time.

Top drawer, 9/10.

Just watched this, pleasantly surprised. I'd give it a solid 8/10, the best action thriller I've seen in ages.

Aceveda has put on some timber!

Uncle Buck - brilliant, a John Candy tour-de -force.8.5 / 10

Jack Ryan film with Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and Kenneth Branagh. Decent enough action flick but the highlight was a Russian assassin knifing Sinbad from Brookside to death. He appeared to have given up his window round and was working in a garage in Philly. 7/10

The Vanishing, inspired by a true story about three lighthouse keepers who go missing in 1900 (Flannan Isles mystery). The real reason was unknown but the film comes up with a plot around finding gold, some Scandinavian pirates and the rapid descent into madness of Gerard Butler's character. Really good watch, 8/10.

Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim

Whilst it lacks the epic feel and lore of a Tolkienesque LOTR, as a standalone story I really enjoyed it.  Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy, An origin story of Helms Deep centred around the King of Rohan, the animation is very good as is the story.

8.5/10

That film completely threw me at the end. I think they were supposed to be in Russia (if my memory serves) but it's actually next to the Cunard or Liver building. Totally took me out of the moment

I’m off with him because he got to do nude sex scenes with Daisy Edgar Jones and I suspect has probably done the deed in real life with her.

Speaking of Carry On, I watched Up the Khyber a few weeks ago.

It wasn't as outrageously offensive as I expected it would be.

90 minutes of double entendre, a farting elephant and a fair bit of anti-colonialism humour.

I was laughing.

It's just about perfect in its relentless silliness.  A lot of the Carry On team were at their peak in that.  If anyone wants to get offended, I'm sure they could find stuff in it to make them harrumph; personally, I'd rather just enjoy it for what it is.

First time I ever watched this I was paralytic on whisky, I'd never seen the first one and had no idea what was happening. Magnificent.

Can't remember how many times I've watched these, just quality films.

Jonathan has some superb double tap kills.

Roll on Friday for number 3! I was going to watch last night but these films deserve alcohol, as you can testify

Went for a good Christmas film last night instead.

Die Hard. 8/10

Easy watch.

There's nothing a lot wrong with Gladiator 2 apart from it being really fucking boring and ultimately a pointless rehash. It just didn't have that initial feeling of awe of seeing a filmmaker's recreation/vision of Rome and the Coliseum.

Scott says he's written 8 pages for a third installment. I'd suggest he stops there.

And the sharks with a set out of BBCs Total Wipeout spare parts!
