Watched Migration, good old fashioned animated fun, a little less philosophy and/or metaphysics and more gags for a change. 7/10.

I found Naked quite a gruelling watch. I did like how unremittingly bleak it was, but found it a tough watch. I suppose Johnny's trip around London is similar to one of Godzilla's visits to Tokyo in the destruction he wreaks on the lives of those he meets, just on a smaller scale. I'm a sucker for anything Japanese, I guess.

 

@Total Longo Wages of Fear was excellent. I could see the parallels with Friedkin's remake and am now torn in making up my mind which I prefer.

Theatrical. I picked up the blu-ray with that and the Redux on. I've the Final Cut somewhere as well, but have only seen it the once.

Good choice. I far prefer the theatrical cut to the others. The surfboard stealing was just daft.

Saw this many moons ago and didn't think too much of it. I think it's aged quite well though, and the satire comes to the fore on rewatching. The offbeat atmosphere feels far more fitting now than it did 20 years ago.

 

Still a hammy horror at heart, but fairly unique in tone.

It was just a fuckin dog.

 

Gangs of New York. 5/10.

She was out for the night and I hadn't seen this in years, remember being disappointed at the time and nothing changed. Lasted 30 minutes and gave up. Considering the weapons they had the opening gang fight was shit.

Jarg Irish accents didn't help.

 

Moved onto

American Gangster. 9/10.

Brilliant cast and performance.

Carry on, proper retro action film Die Hard style, thought it was brilliant. The lead is kind of an anti John McClaine who's a bit of an aimless bum (I can relate) who gradually gets his shit together.

 

Some actors from top shows reunited too. Juice fom sons of anarchy, uncle hank from breaking bad, the lead from Ozark, David Aceveda from The Shield. Genuinely wondered if the casting choices were an homage to telly from a better time. 

 

Top drawer, 9/10.

I watched it the other night, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, I was a bit of a throwback film, nothing you haven't seen before but decent.

Missus made me watch a Christmas film. That Christmas. Not much happened though it was kind of sweet in parts. I did have a cheap bottle of red wine though langhi billi billi or some shit. I think I may be a shiraz man because it was really nice, like jam shed shiraz.
