Star Wars isn’t Science Fiction.

Not sure if you're arguing that "it's still real to you, damn it..." Numero, and are objecting to the word "fiction"?

Or are we about to go into a genre study of Star Wars?

If so, I'll have a guess and say it's a Coming-of-Age-Sci-fi-Western?

Space Fantasy, I’d say. There’s a lack of any real science. The force, that’s just magic. Darth Vader is cool though.

What exactly is it then? Looks like Sci fi to me. And please don't go into 'It's a representation of the Yanks v Russians like Star Trek' or something like that.

I'd say that while your description may be correct it's space and futuristic vibe will still come under the Sci-fi genre.

Star Trek is loosely based on Captain Cook. I heard that on the radio yesterday as it happens.

Really? Kirk? Cook? Possibly. But the stories seem to reflect the Cold War at the time too,at least from some of my understanding.

Yeah genuinely. Some fella on Virgin Radio said Gene Roddenberry was fascinated with Cook and The Endeavour. All makes sense if you think about it.

Not set in the future though is it?
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

I always think science fiction should be humanity based, with a fair bit of science involved, even if it surpasses current science.

Elemental

Hugely disappointing.  Pixar films generally vary from good to perfect, but this is piss-poor.

The trademark ingredients of Pixar, for decades, have included strong storylines; well-developed and engaging characters; beautiful animation; genuine laughs and "is it dusty in here?" moments; all within a logically-consistent universe.

This tiresome mess has none of that.

Twisters the remake/reimagining.

Didn't finish it and spent a lot of the viewing time trying to think why they remade it and why did they have so many unlikeable characters that didn't get sucked into the very first tornado so that it could be a more effective as a short film.

Sucked more than the twisters they were all chasing.

Kinds of Kindness

Has anyone seen this yet? From the same director as Poor Things but it's even more mental.

Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons lead a cracking cast in a triptych of outrageous lunacy.

I really liked it, I think?

8/10

Aye, I reviewed it on here a few weeks back.

It was pretty fucking mental.
