Rate the last film you watched...

Watched the new top gun on the plane last week and thought it was great.

 

it was essentially the same film as the first top gun from what I can remember of it (my memory of films has always been hopeless (I used to regularly watch films I “don’t think I’ve seen” and then remember I had seen it ad we got to tye final 15 minutes) but with incredible new flashy planes.

 

plenty of fun and the time passed quickly.

The effects and the sound were stunning.

Watched The Untouchables with my youngest last night. 
 

He’s recently finished The Sopranos, and is sort of enjoying Boardwalk Empire, so I thought he might enjoy it. 
 

I haven’t seen it in more than thirty years. It was nowhere near as good as I remembered. I’ve seen much better since I first watched it. 
 

My boy gave it an “ok”.

 

Back in the day, I’d have given it a nine. It’s really not much better than a seven.

It's very stylised, which is fine, but if you're expecting anything realistic you'll be disappointed.

 

I still think the scene with the pram on the stairs is a cracking set-piece and some of the villains are hissably bad; there's enough there to make it enjoyable, but it's not a great film.

Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones. True story about a skint funeral home owner who brings a lawyer in to help him against a corporate giant cunt. Jamie Foxx is brilliant, enjoyed this. 7.5/10
