Have kept seeing the title among new releases on something which definitely isn't Kodi and hoping it wasn't an inevitably shit remake.

The original is a superb film.

Totally agree that the original Argentinian film is excellent.

Hollywood films are at a big low at the moment, they are being churned out like cows giving milk. Unfortunately most of them are coming out of a cow's arse.

Our Day Out

No idea why i wanted to watch this again, but there you go.

3/10 I am too young for any of it to be nostalgic. Other than school trips and arsehole teachers like.

Wow!

How the fuck did you manage to watch our day out? Are you in school and your English teacher put it on for you as an end of term treat?

Nightcrawler - Loved it. Evocative of Taxi Driver, King of Comedy plus other LA centric films like Drive and LA Confidential. Jake Gyllenhaal was terrific as Lou Bloom and Rene Russo still looks great, even at 62, and she was excellent too. 9 out of 10.

Se7en - Not as good as I remember but still pretty good. Think once you've watched it a few times, everything that is so good about it doesn't really impress anymore - 7.5/10

Paddington - It is what it is. A few muffled laughs, but most of the film was spent thinking the wife was strangely fit - 6/10

From Hell - Felt like I was in hell watching this mess 4/10. Would be a 3/10 but Depp was still quite the dashing fellow back then so gave it an extra mark

Ex Machina - 9 out of ten.

I thought it was a quality film. Anyone agree, or have I just got a thing for sexy robots?

Watched this on Saturday night. Really good.

You're not wrong about sexy robots either!

Victor Frankenstein meets Harry Potter fucking hell what a pile of shite but it's one of those so bad it's kinda watchable 3/10. McAvoy is always watchable but how this got past the scrip stage is a mystery....

Any chance we can just have a separate Quentin Fucking Tarancuntingtino thread?

Gotta go back about 10 fucking pages to avoid the goofy lookin' fucking spunkwaffle. He's ruining this whole thread.

Room 7/10

Decent drama. It delves into the human spirit a lot I think. Quite a unique script for a movie actually which was nice. The lead girl in it (no idea of her name) was tremendous.

Starred Up 7/10

Gritty as fuck but again very solid, very realistic representation of prison I would imagine. The kid in it will go far. Like a younger Tom Hardy.

Brie Olsen, won the Oscar on Sunday, agreed mate, she was fantastic and very deserving.

Mind you, I thought the kid, (Joseph Tremblay ?) was even better, best acting performance by a fella I can recall all year. Better than DiCaprio but the kid wasn't even nominated.

You're right mate, the boy was very good also.

Didn't realise she won an Oscar but that is well deserved.

To be fair to CD, when I heard Brie Larsen had won the Oscar I thought, 'Fucking Hell, even Jenna Jameson never managed to win an Oscar, I'll need to check this slag's films out.'.

Se7en - 6/10: Thought it was decent for what it was but tbh can't really see what people are raving about with this one. Yeah there was a good unsettling atmosphere throughout the movie but I thought there were quite a few detective clichés, the twist was far more predictable and run-of-the-mill than I'd been told it was and Pitt's "Oh gaaaaawd, what's in the baaaaaaawks" shtick at the end came off as laughably bad, whether he was intentionally doing it to try and "portray his character's sense of shock" or not.
