Always thought Spiderman was a bit of a tart but Marvel certainly upped their game with the new version. Really looking forward to this when dodgy boxes r us, ahem, aquire it.

Kids will love this judging by the reviews on here.

Isn't it made by Sony?

Spider-Man - No Way Home. 9/10

Seen it twice today and the second viewing was just as exhilarating as the first.

Some minor plot holes but this film really delivers on every angle.

Superb ‘Event’ type film. Great to hear people cheering in the cinema again.

I'm going to the cinema to see it Sunday. Thanks for the spoilers about people cheering. Smh.

The Lost Daughter - 8 out of 10.

Brillaint film that I never ever want to see again.

Coleman plays a mum who abandons her daughters when they are young and you work through her emotions, regrets, reasoning vicariously as she toys with a young mothers emotions and relationship with her daughter.

Bleak as shit, but captivating, and so close to the bone at times that it's genuinely uncomfortable.

I hated watching it, but that's only because it was so bleak and truthful about human frailty.

Last Train to Christmas. 6.5/10

Michael Sheen starts off on a train in 1985, his successful entrepeneur character looking and acting (deliberately) like Peter Stringfellow, goes into the next carriage down and is transported to 1995 where he is a fat mess, tries to piece together how it goes wrong by going back the other way and further back (and forward again) in time. Mayhem and sliding doors moments ensue. A decent and quite well made time travel film that you have to keep up with, although i had major issues with how it ends.

Worth two hours of anyones time for Nathalie Emmanuel though. Sweet Jesus....

Unforgivable. New Netflix film that is ok but grim. 6/10.

Three quarters through The Parallax View. 1974 mind bender with Warren Beatty. Completely and utterly bonkers.

War Of The Worlds (The Spielberg/Tom Cruise one)

Watched it on the projector last night. Still great visually although some of the effects look a bit dated now. Plenty of things wind me up.....

  • They got a working car but nobody else seemed to have one (I know he tells the mechanic to change the solenoids but still....)
  • Except the van next to the plane crash which just speeds off with a van full of working video equipment
  • When they go to Mom and Tims house he only uses the measly food that Robbie packed in the box instead of you know, opening the fridge in this enormous house that usually houses 2 adults and 2 teenage children
  • When they get to Boston the Mom, Tim and their parents just greet them at the front door, alive and well in a street seemingly untouched by the tri-pods

Obviously plenty more if I was going to be more pedantic (we switched off after about an hour as we were shattered but I've seen it loads of times) and it's not on me to tell Spielberg how to do his job. That said, it's still a cracker especially on the projector.

In this scene Tom Cruise throws a slice of peanut buttered bread at the window, then half of the house gets smashed to pieces by a crashing plane.

Guaranteed if that window is still in-tact when they got home the Mom would have said "How the fuck did that get there, was it Dad?"

War of the Worlds 2 - Mom applies for full custody of the children because Ray got violent and threw a butty at the back window

Watched The Matrix 4 for the fourth time (no spoilers here), first three with a crappy quality torrent, this was the first time watching it in good quality. I still like it a lot, that's partly because I've been a Matrix fan for over two decades but I still thought the story was good, liked the acting and a lot of the action. After a good opening I thought it got a bit weak for a while, and that happens here and there before the end too but I really enjoyed watching it overall.

Still think like I said in the upcoming films thread that this is better than Matrix 2 and 3, original is still by far my favourite though. It's been a long time since I saw the 2nd and 3rd films so might watch all of them again at some point now that I think there's a better end point.

Been scouring the usual places for a HBO ripped version. Yet to find it but the reviews are wildly varying on it from amazing to amazingly bad. Looks to be divisive rather than pointless.

Yeah definitely divisive as the style and some other parts of it stray a fair bit from the originals at times but I like the way it was done mostly. Will pm you a link too.
