Megamind - netflix 4/5

Laugh out loud animation my daughter picked. Really funny take on the superhero Vs villain genre. DreamWorks made it and it just have passed me by on release.

Also, there are loads of studio Ghibli films on Netflix at the moment. KidD is loving them. Ponyo and Spirited Away being her favourites.

I rated that on here ages ago. Cant remember what I scored it but it's well worth a watch.

Aye, it’s a real gem.

Have you ever watched Nebraska? Similarities and made me want to re-watch that.

Zodiac - great murder mystery thriller. Read the book years ago but forgot how the story evolved. 8.5/10

Mad Max Fury Road - second viewing and it's better second time around. Great visuals and sound, not winning any awards for acting but the action is superb. 8.2/10

Portrait of a Lady on Fire - been on the list for a while as a 'Must See' on Metacritic. Definitely a good story and nicely put together as a mystery/romance. I wish they would speak French a little slower though as I wanted to hear the words alongside reading the subs, but I guess that would have become a little silly. Arty farty fun. 8.8/10

JoJo Rabbit - 8/10 I love Taika Waititi movies and this is no different either. But it's very different to what he's made before. You laugh but if you laugh are you a bad person? It's darkly satirical, it's a coming of age story too. It's one I'll have to watch again.

I watched 2 films today.

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade - controversial, but to my mind this is the best of the series. Sean Connery is great as Henry Jones snr. 9/10

Lion - about the 5th time I've seen this but that makes no difference, incredible raw film with some incredible acting. 10/10

Thinking about it, most of the fights included in the Rocky films are exhibition fights. Hulk Hogan, Mr T and Drago. Seems like the only contender in the whole world at the time was Apollo Creed.

Spider Rico?

Tell Me Who I Am.

Netflix documentary about twin brothers, one loses his memory in a road accident and the other helps him to rebuild his life - leaving out one or two key details which leads to a final reveal.

Well made and very difficult at times to listen to - assuming that it is all true.

8.5/10.

Casino.

Always feels like it gets a bit forgotten, including by me, because of just how iconic Goodfellas is.

Far too many great scenes and lines to recount, from Nicky Santoro especially.

Today, aside from those big eye glasses Ace is wearing in our final view of him, it's when he gets up from behind his desk, deadpan, dressed like this which has just hit the spot.

10/10. A stone cold classic in it's own right.

The Lunchbox.

I'm sure this would of been mentioned before - Cracking little film from Mumbai about a relationship that blossoms on the back of the wrong delivery of the titles Lunchbox. Seriously, catch this film if you can. Iffran Khan stars alongside the utterly gorgeous and well well shaggable Nimrat Kaur. Hits all the spots and not schmaltzy in the slightest.

8.75/10

4.3.2.1.

All very good. Noel Clarke is class.

Not seen 4.3.2.1 but the other 3 are really fucking good. Hard to watch because they are so raw but superbly done. The first two series of Top Boy caught that same morbid/London vibe really well until Netflix got its hands on it. I was hoping Gangs of London would have been similar but nah, load of yankified arse

Have you seen Bullet Proof?  More Noel Clarke but looks a bit daft. Not watched it yet.

For context on why I negged this post, I removed the neg, but AFAIK linfords lunchbox was a term the S*n coined after he won gold. Instead of focusing in his achievements they pretty much dehumanised him and summed him up as a guy with a big black dick. He hated the name.

I only read about it relatively recently so now I'm obviously morally superior and must educate everyone else as to the many reason how and why. Stand by more more reasons later.

I've seen a few adverts for it, its actually got the lead fella from Top Boy in it as well. Seems like it might just be trying to do Bad Boys in Croydon. Anyone else seen it?

I had no idea it was started by them, I just remember there being a lot of jokes about it on quiz shows like Have I Got News For You and when he was a guest panellist on other comedy quiz shows it would be joked about. The other thing about it is there are adverts he did where he promoted products like this one...

...that definitely seems to reference his size (whether that's his body size or size of something else is open to question) so for a man who dislikes it being referenced it seems odd that he would use it for advertising - which presumably he would have been paid for.

The one thing I didn't recall seeing was his alleged use of performance enhancing drugs. I remember I think the Canadian/American (I forget which) Ben Johnson as it was a huge news story but it didn't seem as high profile when Linford Christie was pulled up - presumably because he had already won lots as opposed to Johnson as he was tested pretty much straight after winning.
