Green Book was very good, best film I’ve seen for a good while. 8.25/10. Viggo Mortenson was brilliant in it I thought.

I enjoyed it too. Obviously not a film to suit all tastes.

What did you dislike about it so much?

I think that’s a harder question to answer, but generally I didn’t feel anything towards the characters, thought it felt overdone, felt the dialogue was full of tropes and overplayed stereotypes.

40 minutes in I should give a shit about at least something or someone, and didn’t.

Another shitshow on Netflix. All the Devil's Men. About military contractors going after a terrorist or something. It had Mel Gibson's son and Chris Partlow from The Wire in.

It missed the fundamental rule of drama which is that if you don't care about the characters there is no drama, all the characters are utter gobshites.

The dialogue would go along the lines of:

"Who are you?"

"Shut the fuck up."

"Remember when I saved you in Afghan? You were crying like a little bitch."

"Fuck you."

"I killed 15 Afghans with a knife, including a kid whose throat I slit."

"I killed 16"

"Fuck you."

"No, you shut the fuck up."

Tremendous craic. I never finished it.

Somehow I'd never watched Apollo 13 all the way through. Watched yesterday. Looks a little dates but excellent

Not a shock to anyone i guess.

Space is great.

Must be great being one of such a small number to land on or see the moon so close

Gone baby gone. Film by Affleck based in Baaastan as usual.

Had by far the most ugly extras I've ever seen, presumably to make it look realistically working class Baaastan.

Had Casey Affleck in and some bird that didn't do anything and a plot similar to Shannon Matthews. 6/10.

Fighting With My Family 5.5/10.

It was likeable enough, a couple of amusing moments but felt it was ultimately bang average IMO.

Also, even as a very casual wrestling fan, I was aware Paige was nowhere near the novice the film portrayed her as when joined NXT.

I did giggle at the “Sex Tape - he makes people famous” gag. I’m assuming it was firmly tongue in cheek. Disappointing, we never got to see any of her home videos, I’m pretty sure one of them showed somebody jizzing on her NXT belt, so would have taken place over the course of the film. A missed opportunity.

Captain Marvel 6/10.

Its decent enough but not as good as the last few Marvel films. Although lovely, I’m not sold on Brie Larson, compared to the over Avengers, she seems a bit, well, boring / flat. Maybe it’s the character but I felt it was her performance. She had a few one liners which should have been funnier but her delievery was a bit weak.

Also, the action never felt intense / aggressive enough for my liking, even compared to other Marvel films it felt on the meh side, although I do suppose part of that comes from the fact everybody knows she’s in Avengers 4 & was never in any doubt if not winning.

It’s decent enough, I did enjoy it, but it’s a couple of steps down on Marvels best efforts. The 90’s nostalgia is pretty good, never expected to hear Elastica in a Marvel film.
