No Time to Die - I understand that you can't keep repeating the Bond formula without some innovation or change in direction, and I did like that Craig's films had a through line of plot, but I found this an overlong misstep with an ending that made it feel more like post-2005 Doctor Who than James Bond, or you can call it the Harrison Ford rule if you like. However you square it, a good first third, a middling second act and maudlin third act isn't a recipe for success for me.

Rami Malek continued the proud tradition of having a scar as a character trait rather than actual character, and I'm not sure what his actual plan was at the end or even why he wore that mask. I like Craig's Bond but amazingly I think I enjoyed this one the least. 5.5 out of 10.

The Guilty - Netflix

Jake Gyllenhaal. They have adapted a recent Danish film that was on Netflix (didn't realise that until about 20 minutes in) that was decent. I actually think this is a tad better, the Danish version was darker with less sub-plots but Gyllenhaal is very good in this. If you haven't seen the Danish one you won't know the twist so give it a watch. 7.5/10.

I'd give it 8/10, generally I avoid movies on Netflix but this is worth 90 minutes of your time.

If it's a Yank remake of a Danish film then I'd watch the original ten times out of ten.

Because the Danish one was so recent and had been on Netflix I didn't think it would be based on the same thing (just an emergency call responder) as soon as i clocked similarities I googled it and checked, if I knew before hand I probably wouldn't have bothered with it but it was actually decent.

Fixed it for you. Can't think of any Hollywood remake of a foreign film off the top of my head that has beaten the original, I'm sure some will say The Departed and would agree that could be up for debate.

Watch both of these (The Guilty - if you haven't) and let me know what you think.
