Run - unusual drama/horror about a mother/daughter relationship that leads to suspicions that all is not as it seems.

7/10.

Wolfwalkers - traditional animation about a lonely young girl who finds friends and more in the woods outside her city. It's a children's film but the story's excellent and there's enough going on to keep it interesting for the grown-ups. Great soundtrack, too. 8/10.

Good Time. Decent, taut thriller about a brothers' bank heist gone wrong and the chaos that unfolds in the aftermath.

It's a bit of an odd one, it obviously wants to be taken seriously as a gritty, meaningful film, but doesn't really have anything to say bar a story which could have been an excellent couple of TV episodes. It feels like it's half an hour too long, but doesn't really have any background or motivation as to why things are so. The shots are tight and claustrophobic, but then it almost veers into black comedy territory. The music is fucking terrible, it doesn't generally register with me but I found it really annoying and cheesy.

And yet, it's worth a watch, 7/10.

Totally agree, apart from the score.

5/10 from me.

I haven't seen three of those and great shout with Little Miss Sunshine. I should have included that or Peanut Butter Falcon.

The Father

I don't like the traitor Anthony Hopkins but he is amazing in this film and fully deserving of his recent Best Actor Oscar.

I don't want to spoil this for anyone but blimey, Hopkins is just amazing in his portrayal of an ageing fella battling dementia. Olivia Coleman also shines as his long suffering daughter.

Brilliant performances, very good film.

Nomadland - Haven't got much to say on this. Frances McDormand was good, it was fine and it mostly worked as a piece of fiction and documentary. It had some breathtaking shots of rural America and knowing that some of the people featured were real people was a good touch but the whole thing left me a little cold. 7 out of 10

"Sir" Anthony Hopkins. He's happy to accept the knighthood but he surrendered his British citizenship when he became an American citizen.

Doesn't want to pay his fare share of tax in Blighty so he's all luvvied up in Hollywood, still kept the knighthood though.

He wants his cake and he wants to eat it too.

What cake is it? You can’t beat a nice homemade Victoria Sponge. Mr Kipling’s Manor House is the worst cake known to man, you don’t get a slice, you just a pile of crumbs.
