I've heard a rumour that having a real debrid subscription can improve download/streaming speeds. Is there any truth to this rumour?

Casino Royale miles better than any he’s done since, for me.

That’s the other one I like. Think there’s not much between them. The other two are just shit though with Spectre especially disappointing as it had so much potential.

Yeah I think Casino Royale and Skyfall are excellent. The other two were nowhere near as good. Spectre is just a bit better than Quantum of Solace. I actually left the pictures half an hour into Spectre because I was too hungover. I went and sat in the car and left my ex in there watching it on her own.

Non-Stop.

Liam Neeson doing pretty much the same thing he has done since Taken came out. Air Marshall with a drink problem gets into a pickle on-board a transatlantic flight. It was actually a little bit better than I thought it would be and it keeps you guessing who the bastard on-board the flight is. Worth the one watch if you're ate a loose-end finding something on Netflix to kill a couple of hours.

Think Passenger 57 but nowhere near as good and without Liz Hurley. 3.8/10.

Looks like non-stop should have been stopped.

Touching the Void

As others have mentioned, an amazing story of human survival. 9 of 10 It's a great book, as well.

North Face

Dramatized story of a 1930's attempt to climb the north face of the Eiger. Takes some (unnecessary) licence with the facts, but a decent effort. 7 of 10

Manhunter - 8/10. I’ve always loved this film and I also love Michael Mann’s stuff in general. However, having watched it loads of times but not in years, it felt quite dated. It also slightly bored (!!!) my 15 year old daughter who loves crime stuff.

Red Dragon - 7/10. Much truer to the book than Manhunter and a great cast. However, it feels slightly derivative as it tries to link directly to The Silence Of The Lambs in what feels quite a contrived way. I’m also not convinced by Ed Norton as Graham. He’s too bland and normal; nowhere near disturbed enough.

Ed Norton is dreadful as Will Graham and Hopkins looks like he’s turned up as a Hannibal Lector tribute and even Fiennes is nowhere near as scary as Tom Noonan who was the original Frances Dollarhyde ...

Other than that slagging I quite enjoyed Red Dragon but I guess that’s because I love the book and the as you say the original Manhunter version.

The Beckoning Silence

A documentary in which the survivor of the first movie travels to the Eiger to look at the factual events on which the second movie is based. Does a decent job of telling the true story of what happened. 7 of 10

I'm with both of the above re: Red Dragon.

The original was great, it's my favourite of all the movies based on his books.

And I do think it's due to the book, as it was head and shoulders better than any of the later books. Dolarhyde is a excellent character.

I've never watched any of the Hannibal movies. Loved the TV show with Mads Mikkelsen though.

I was just about to say about the tv show, I thought the casting was excellent, Mikkelsen especially.

Pity series 3 disappeared up it's own hoop and was as boring as fuck. I actually fell asleep during an episode. Shame because the first 2 series were excellent imho.

I liked season 3. I just loved the show. Mikkelsen is Hannibal Lector for me, which is probably unjust to Anthony Hopkins.

Best Lecter stuff is the TV show, Hannibal. Amazing stuff.

The TV show just stopped. Imagine watching a movie and the screen goes blank before any conclusions and you're told they ran out of interest and decided to stop making it.

Good show but it would have been better to see it finish.

I know there was talk of it being picked up but it's been a while and I have not heard anything. Is there still a chance it could get picked up by a particular company?

Never watched Manhunter or the Hannibal

tv series, need to get onto both of those.

I too watched Red Dragon a couple of weeks ago and also thought it (inevitably) just tried to cynically piggyback on Silence Of The Lambs. It was however for all that still watchable and enjoyable enough to sit through in its own right. Plus it had a nice little reminder of what made Phillip Seymour Hoffman such a believable actor, particularly of truly unctuous characters.

Hannibal, on the other hand, which I watched the following day, is comically weak and miscast at such a level I can’t believe they released it. Truly risible stuff and much of it just seemed like a French and Saunders pisstake. Particularly Oldman’s character, who looked like Jim Henson had put it together. Ridley Scott must have been getting cocaine blown up his hoop in industrial quantities to look that finished product over and say “Yeah, great job, team”.

Fucking woeful.
