K-19 The Widowmaker, 7/10. Told the true story of a nuclear disaster on the Soviet's flagship missile sub. Much better than I thought It'd be.

Clear and Present Danger. 9/10. Love the Harrison ford Jack Ryan films. Patriot Games is class too.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire, 10/10.

It had a lot of buzz at Cannes last year which always piques my interest but I hadn't followed up on it as it just didn't grab me.  But while scrolling for something different to watch last night this popped up, so I read a couple of reviews and voila.  This morning I feel like I've watched a film that I want to watch again already. A masterpiece.

Watched High Fidelity last night, not seen it for years & found it a bit annoying to be honest. Just a self obsessed fanny who manages to pull birds well out of his league & wears crap jumpers. It's not aged particularly well.

5/10

I like the record store dialogue. Jack Black is funny in it. That Moby looking creep creeps me out. Good film, for what it is.

Just watched this based entirely on your review, loved it.

Subtle, brilliant, saturated.

Nice one, glad you enjoyed it.  Watch it again, as I have already, you might give it 10/10!  Scenes that I didn't quite get first time round, or was taken aback by, made more meaningful on second viewing.

The sparse script was incredible, every word puncturing the tension or the calm, the sparse set allowing a blank canvas on which the actors could create something beautiful, the sparse score allowing the natural sounds to shine through, and when the music came it really, really meant something.  And that scenery, framed beautifully.

I'll be thinking about this film for days I'm sure, but I'll stop going on about it now.

Mississippi Grind 8/10

For the most part it's a melancholy story about two strangers who meet at a card table and end up going on a road trip to New Orleans to win big.

One of those films you don't need to pay 100% attention to still enjoy and is worth watching for the soundtrack alone.

Skyfall - decent and probably the best of the Daniel Craig Bonds. However all of his ones seem to diminish with repeat viewing for me. 7/10.

Gets an extra point for me for the entertainment value of Adele channeling Vic Reeves' pub singer in the theme song.

The Hobbit trilogy, utter shite. Thorin, utter twat.

He’s like that in the book as well, mate. Sorry.

Overlall it is a poor trilogy though. Studio greed spread a three and a half hour film over three films. It was two at most.

In the 3rd film I'd just had enough of the miserable moping nonce, was actively rooting for the Orcs to batter them tbh.

Burt Lancaster stars as a vacuum cleaner salesman come grifter come revivalist preacher in this incredible film about faith and religion.

Casino Royale miles better than any he’s done since, for me.

That’s the other one I like. Think there’s not much between them. The other two are just shit though with Spectre especially disappointing as it had so much potential.
