Toy Story 4 - They got away with making another Toy Story and it being good. More a story about the toys themselves rather than about a childhood rite of passage. Props to the brilliantly named Duke Kaboom voiced by Keanu Reeves. 8.5 out of 10

Aladdin - Disney's re-run of their back catalogue continues with another remake that left you shrugging about why it existed. Will Smith gives it a go as the genie but he can't scale the heights of Robin Williams and Guy Ritchie's direction gives some very bland performances but Naomi Scott makes a good Jasmine. 6.5 out of 10

Ralph Breaks the Internet - Sequel to Wreck-It Ralph that inexplicably isn't called Ralph Wrecks the Internet. Decent idea stretched beyond it's limits and once the game references run out so does the film. 5.5 out of 10

Bohemian Rhapsody - Very disappointing film which felt like the Ladybird guide to Queen. Biopics can often feel like a very linear route from A to B and none more so than here. We get very clumsy reasons why songs were named, written or performed, events are shunted around to serve a narrative that implies that Queen saved Live Aid. Terrific central performance from Rami Malek but too many of the details of Mercury's life are sanded down and the film feels too safe. Rocketman was the better biopic for me. 5 out of 10

Rambo: Last Blood- plot wise about as basic as it gets. The carnage when it finally comes is very enjoyable- 6/10.

That is very kind. The fake background in the driving scenes was plucked from a straight to video film.

The plot is another of these father figure rescues daughter from kidnapper, but unfortunately its more 'The Prince' than 'Taken'.

Despite ripping off most of its ideas, it still managed to struggle filling its 90 minutes, with about 10 of these spent with a montage of the previous Rambo films, in a similar way to the last Creed film.

4/10.

Angel has Fallen 6/10

Midsommar 6/10 weird as fuck film that has some disturbing moments in it and a director that seems to have been on magic mushrooms all the way through, was far too long, if they'd knocked off half hour which they easily could have done then for me would have been much better..

Would have been a 5 but for Florence Pugh

I'd say his performance was the worst thing about this horrible film.

I saw about 10 minutes of it on the telly the other night & thought it was a spoof until the adverts came on.

Only seen bits of it but it struck me as a steaming pile of shite. In my opinion, Rami Makek is nothing like Freddie Mercury. Not a patch on the fella who impersonated him on Stars in Their Eyes, years ago and he was crap.

First Man - really enjoyed this. Lot's of good, if dramatised, insight into the build up to the moon landing and the human cost. 4/5

Hotel Transylvania 3 - Disappointed that Dracula zinged with Erica when his love for Martha was always so pure. Seems like a sequel for the sake of a sequel. Still enjoyed it  2/5

Mulan - never seen this before. Rates up there with our favourite Disney films in the Dangerously household. 4/5

Ad Astra - pretentious, scientifically inaccurate tripe with a few bolted on action sequences that have little to do with the plot. I can imagine someone looking at the script, realising it was tedious, and suggesting adding random stuff like pirates, flying monkeys, sharks with lasers, etc. It did look great, and I appreciate Pitt's performance, but overall 3/10.
