When Barry Norman handed over the reigns to me, he didn't say anything about putting up with this sort of nonsense.

If I say a film is shite then that's it, case closed.

Jonathon Woss posts on here? The Sixth Sense is wubbish. Seeing as you're best mates with Wussell Bwand you must have known Katy Pewwy quite well. It all makes sense now...

Off work this week so I am having a film fest.

Watched A Star is Born at the pics yesterday and while its a solid 8/10 I don't think its as fantastic as some people made out but that's my opinions.

Also watched Oceans 8.

Thought this was a 7/10.  I know it wasn't great but its the type of film I like to switch off too.

Mission Impossible Fallout.

I have this as a 8/10 also.  I know people will wonder how the fuck I thought it was an 8/10 but like I said its the type of shit I like to switch off and kill a couple of hours with.

A star is born is good but it's like watching a live action Disney fairytale. 7/10

Mixed Netflix bag recently. Started watching that Bright which I'd read was terrible, lasted about 20 minutes and turned it off. Just a daft idea - Will Smith is in the LAPD and partnered up with the first Orc on the force, the the elves all live in Beverly hills and there's fairies and shit. Shite really.

Watch Polar, with the villain from Casino Royale playing a hit man being hunted by his old employer so they don't have to pay him his retirement money. Matt Lucas plays the villain. Funny and stylish, a good fun action romp.

A Star Is Born 7/10

I kept thinking there was a much more interesting and cynical film in it, which they sort of played around a bit, but opted for a melodrama in the end. Something Joseph L. Mankiewicz and especially Douglas Sirk would have done in their time in a much more intriguing way. Sirk would make proper cunts of them all, like he did in Imitation of Life. But then there would be no Oscars.

Polar. I was going to watch that tonight as I think the star (forget his name) is great.

You then said Matt Lucas is the villian which kind of puts me off.

Mads Mikkelsen is the star and he is good but I found Polar to be just a bit OTT for my tastes. Casting wasn't great with Lucas either.

I watched Polar last night and was a little sceptical as Netflix find are usually very good but this was OK, so a solid 6/10.

Agree with the Lucas casting though, very strange decision and to away something from the last fifteen minutes or so that could've been more sinister so deducted a point.

Hostiles - Christian Bale escorts Wes Studi's dying Cheyenne chief back to his ancestral lands whilst avoiding Comanche attacks and other perils along the way. Beautifully shot, slightly clichéd and well acted by Bale and Studi. Not groundbreaking but well told and worth your time. 7.5 out of 10

Thanks for the tip. I somehow missed that one and could be right up my alley.

The Favourite 6.5/10

Mildly amusing in places. Performances were good but not really sure what the fuss about it is.

First Man 8/10

Good film. Glad I watched it at home rather than at the cinema as I’m sure I’d have barfed during the POV flight scenes.
