Are you scoring that 9 out of 10 in the context of it's genre, or it is literally in the upper echelons of all the movies you have ever seen?

Actually that's a good distinction that has made me stop and think. It's 9/10 for how much I enjoyed it in the here and now. Whether it stands up only time will tell. So, you've just made me realise that when I rate a movie on here, a 9/10 for something I've seen many times is almost certainly higher (or more secure at least) than a 9 for a new movie.

 

That all said, I really enjoyed the pace and action of this one and the set pieces are superb, as is lots of the dialogue.

Alien 9/10. My missus shits it every time the channels get flicked through and I stumble upon it, she knows its getting watched. Theres a handful of films I'm like a kid with that I can watch umpteen times. Alien is one of them.

I once read somewhere that the mark of a truly great film is that you can be flicking through the channels and, no matter what part you come into it, you'll finish watching right through to the end.

I am the latter, with a few rare exceptions. Even is the film is good, I usually won't go back for a couple of years.

Only one or two films I can watch over and over,The Godfather ones,but I have to leave a while in between viewings. Mostly I watch it once and thats it for me.

I like to give it up to 4/5 years before watching great films again to keep them fresh, I'm the same with great albums now also.

I used to have an ability to completely forget that I'd seen a film before, allowing me to watch it again with full "first time" enjoyment, right up until the last 20 minutes or so when I'd suddenly remember every last detail of how it ends, completely spooling it for me.

 

It was a gift and a curse.

I watched porn with mates before, years ago, when we were about 18, and just found the most fucked up stuff we could. It was hilarious. People fucking girls with household objects and items straight from the vegetable crisper.

I used to be able to sit and watch loads of films over and over again, and once i got a blu ray 5.1 thingy and a load of blu rays my interest peaked again, however i couldn't tell you the last time i watched any of them, stuff like Netflix and Showbox have negated the need for them entirely. 

 

Plus nowadays anything over 90 minutes long and i'm either bored, or asleep, or both.

It is. The other two films lose something in regards to production values as they were made for TV, but all three are certainly worth watching. Noomi Rapace is fantastic as Lisbeth.

I still wasted money on shite but i do sometimes,probably more nostalgia thsn anything else. Miss going down the shop to rent a film. Maybe the effort and having to choose made it more of a event.

 

Its the same with the round ball game. Seeing the 3pm stuff online. I sometimes miss being a kid and just having 5 live on
