You have to wonder what their expectations are. They haven't spent much money, they're not expected to compete for the CL places, and yet they're getting rid of the manager in his first season.

 

Just no long term thinking at that place. Delusions of grandeur.

He was fat Freddie's man, so I would imagine this is a case of the new owner wanting to put his own man in before releasing proper money.

 

The whole thing is a bit odd though. Allardyce brought a large staff with him. You would have at least thought they would give him a season to see where they finished. There's no huge difference between about fifteenth and eighth and a few good/poor results could see you move around in that sort of area.

 

Because Allardyce has been outspoken against Rafa I can only smile at what has now happened. We also know where he ranks in the big sceme of things: just a small step below Glenn Roeder.
