Leather jackets

It’s not some I’d wear (too short and I tend to prefer a proper collar) but it’s a very nice jacket. Proper vintage is ace but I prefer vintage style. I’m a fussy cunt and, whenever possible, like to own things from new.

I have to go vintage with leather jackets as I don't like getting new stuff scuffed. An old jacket already has some character and I won't obsess over keeping it pristine.

 

This is my current favourite. I wear it with an accompanying brown felt bakerboy, and pretend I'm an undercover plod infiltrating a '70s crime syndicate.

 

I also hum The Seeker by The Who as I'm walking.

I'd wear that and pretend I was Ron Ashton out The Stooges.

I'm in Hoian in Vietnam at the moment. Lots of leather shops, handmade shoes, bags etc. A leather jacket  like this, made to measure your choice of leather is about £100. Show them a picture and they'll make a copy for you. I've had lots of leather jackets in the past, dress jackets and ones for riding my bikes but being old and slightly portly (happy Buddha the locals call me) I think I'll resist the temptation.

The collar is misshapen because it had a bag hanging round it.

I wish I had the shape to wear one but lugging one around for weeks would be a pain. Then again after wearing it in this heat for a few weeks, I probably would have the right shape but it would need re-tailoring !

Yeah it wouldn't be the best thing to drag around in that heat.

All the extra zips and the stitching on the shoulder pads bumps the price up a fair bit. Ready to try on in 2 days in your choice of leather that is going to set you back the thick end of 120 quid.
