3 was a fucking joke of a movie - they should have gone with the Dark Horse graphic novels after the second one, which is still one of the best sci-fi/action movies I've ever seen. Over two hours long and the climax starts about twenty minutes in, it just doesn't let up after that.

 

Hudson: "Say Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"

 

Vasquez: "No. Have you?"

 

Classic.

 

I don't entirely get what people don't like about the third Alien film. It has the same kind of claustrophobic feel as the first one, which was one of the greatest horror films ever made.

The cinema cut of Alien3 is shite. The Quadrilogy "directors cut" helps build tension and claustrophobia a lot more and also explains more about the prison planet etc. It's a lot, lot better.

 

Let's face it, Alien and Aliens are pretty flawless as movies go, so it would have to be spectacular to fit in alongside them. It's good, it's just not as good as it's predecessors.
