Welcome to the new and improved TLW!

Some of you may experience issues logging in and will get an 'incorrect password' error. Don't worry, you haven't typed it in wrong and your password hasn't been changed. You will need to reset it though in order to log in. Click the reset password link and you will receive an email with your new temporary password. Once logged in, you need to choose a new password (or restore to your old one) otherwise you will be locked out again.

If you have an out of date email address linked to your account, then you won't receive the new password. If that's the case then you'll need to email me (dave @liverpoolway.co.uk) or send me a tweet @theliverpoolway and I'll update your password manually.

Any other problems or questions just let me know.

Thanks

Dave

Just found Mark Ronson's radio show, Authentic Shit, on New York's East Village Radio. It's here:

It's a bit of a find, this station. The excellent Wax Poetics magazine has a show on here too, full of loads of old stuff.

Mo, remember that Little Brother/9th Wonder tune you put me onto (can't remember the name) that my mate had sampled and looped up? There's a nice drum and bass thing based around it here:

It's 'Lovin it' feat Joe Scudda. Sounds interesting. Without a connection and laptop at home now though and that really sucks so I'll check it out when I get the chance.

My mate owns the pub (really small but proper good place), other mates are djs (and barmen!!! but theyll never admit that) in said pub.

He spends alot of time in there - just got to know him - hes a really nice bloke - it was his birthday do a few weeks ago actually.

What a wicked famous pal to have. Is he genuinely retired?

I reckon that is competing for the coolest mate on the forum right there Fink. He brought another album out about two years ago didn't he so I'm surprised you describe him as retired. Does he come in the pub and ask for ten pints of bitter?

Not if you speak to one of the djs who is constantly trying to get him to work on their tracks.!!!!

Hes not retired, he just cant be arsed most of the time. Cant really blame him - the amount of time he spent out touring like.

To be honest - I never talk to him or them about music as I know feck all about it - i just sit there and listen to the musos duel it out with production terms ive never heard of.

I usually just pipe up with - ooh look at her, shes well fit!!

The original track is ace.

Also, for you hip hop heads, let me recommend two records. First, Blu and Exile's Below the Heavens. To quote the record, "The new Pete and CL is Exile and BL", and they're right. Fucking ace.

Secondly, the new Little Brother album is unreal. That's all I think needs to be said.

Good to hear. I wondered what would happen to them post 9th Wonder. Love the EPMD artwork too.

Has he left them? I just thought that, as he's so prolific, he chucks stuff out under various other names and associations before coming back to LB when it's album time.

I've gone cool on 9th Wonder recently. There was a time when everything he touched was soulful hip hop gold. Now I seem to find myself disappointed by everything I hear with his name attached to it.

They have indeed parted ways. Whilst I originally thought it was detrimental to their sound, I couldn't have been more wrong. The album is very, very good.

Who's produced it?

Judging from the interview in HHC this month, he seems to think it's a break, while Phonte and Big Pooh most certainly see it as a permanent split. Totally agree that 9th Wonder's latest stuff hasn't been up to scratch.
