Is there anyone in the country who still actually feels any sympathy for these negligent snobby twats? I mean I'm sorry that their irresponsible, terrible parenting has resulted in the loss/possible murder of their little girl, but they have no-one to blame but themselves.

 

I'm sick of seeing them on television and in the newspapers. I'm sick of people campaigning for money so these rich negligent cunts can continue scouring Europe to ease their considerable guilt. I'm sick of that tart carrying around that fucking teddy bear everywhere she goes to try and garner sympathy when she should be in a jail cell.

 

It's about time the police charged these people with criminal negligence, and if the poor little lass is found dead are their grounds to charge them with her manslaughter? It's been said before that if two parents from a council estate in Kenny had gone to the pub for a pint and this had happened you just know that social services and the CPS would have come down on them like a shot. The elite protecting the elite and it makes me sick.

 

If she is alive, I would suspect she's being better looked after by more loving, attentive people than her birth parents anyway, so fuck 'em. The poor girl probably doesn't know any different anyway; she probably hardly knew her parents anyway.

 

Can't argue with any of that Chris. I went round to my mum's yesterday as it was her birthday and the Sunderland game was on the TV. The players all had Madeline t-shirts on.

 

As I said to her I don't recall any of this coverage when Ben Needham went missing in 1991.

 

The simple fact is that had they not left a three-year old and two young children on their own then she'd never have gone missing.

 

As for the Council Estate comment spot on. There seems to total empathy with their plight (especially from the Mail). You can't help but wonder (and this has been discussed with my family and friends) that had her parents been a couple of manual workers from a council estate would the coverage be so sympathetic.

 

Jeez, imagine if it was a single mum involved? The Mail would explode in a sea of self-righteous pomposity.

To be honest, no, I'd actualy forgotten. I hope to god she's alright though, even if it doesn't look good. I think If I were in that situation I'd want as much fuss around as possible for aslong as possible, it is, afterall a little girl wether the parents were at fault or not. It's a little girls life. Thousands must go missing around the globe daily not getting as much publicity, but like I said, it's still a little girls life and I personally would be walking streets night and day, country by country for my little girl.

Can I just say that I was left alone with my younger sisters as a kid and it never did us any harm. They should never have left a 3 year old and 18 month old twins alone, it doesn't matter if they were over the road or 3 miles away, they left them alone.

 

The actual odds of someone coming in and snatching one of them though is miniscule, but there are hundreds of different ways children can hurt themselves if they're left alone especially in a strange place and they shouldn't have left them. It was neglect, no matter how many times people defend them saying they're devoted parents. Devoted parents don't leave 3 kids alone like that, not when they could have hired babysitters - it's not as if they haven't got the cash.

 

That said, as much they need to shoulder some of the blame - you can't blame them for doing whatever they can now to try and get her back and they don't deserve what they are going through now. Their 4 year old daughter may be dead and if they believe putting her face on every car in the world might help get her back - who are we to argue?

 

As for the fact that other kids haven't received the same publicity I agree that it's not right but that's not their fault is it.

While I think leaving a kid alone in a Hotel room is wrong, what concerns me greatly this judgemental, holier-then-thou, proper parenting brigade (in want of a better word). This fear of 'Paedogeddon' seems to be becoming more of a stranglehold with parents less and less inclined to let their children play with their mates for fear of them being snatched. The chances are so remote that I think it it is a worse risk alienating childrens needs to socialise and play outdoors

Well, this non-story is certainly keeping more worthy stories off the front pages, and if footballers have the capacity to publicise an issue, surely it would be better to publicise thousands of people being killed in Africa than one missing kid. I do think it's a real shame that so much effort is being put into this, and practically no effort being put into ending the disaster in Darfur. I think people are being emotionally blackmailed into "caring" about this missing child.
