Can't say as I haven't seen enough of him. I'm very pleased to see Rafa getting serious money for a player he wants, though. Well in, G&T - but don't put the wallets away yet.

Correct a very important part of the summer plans but hopefully not the end of it.

We all know what is required and I think that we will make the moves to remedy that.

Interesting to note that Ballague believes he will do well over here.

If I recall correctly he was one of the few pundits suggesting that Morientes will struggle when we signed him.

I hope Ballague is correct again on this one.

I rate him highly, but not at £27M. I'm still a bit staggered at the amount we're actually paying for this lad. Absolutely amazing. £27M is the most I'd want us to pay for Ronaldinho if such a scenario existed, so Torres better be worth it.

It's only £20 apparently.

You're obviously just a tight twat though. Look at the market, look how much United paid for those two kids.

Utd paid up to 30-35m on those two kids, Torres is light years ahead in development terms..

this is a significant investment, the new TV money pays for Torres and im sure he will pay us back, he'll sell shirts for one thing and merchandise, im convinced G&H have pulled off a masterstroke, they're no fools when it comes to sports marketing.

James Ducker in Wednesdays Times says Mancini.... (well that selling Cisse and Bellers could pave the way for Mancini)

I know it's difficult but based on what you have seen from him in Spain and internationally, how highly do you rate our new striker?

I hate him quite highly for the fact that he has been AM top scorer for the last five years, consistent scorer in double figures as well as scored goals in the international level.

AM does not have world class players as compared to barcelona/real madrid/valencia and sevilla and for Torres to score on a consistent basis is really fantastic.

Imagine him playing with the likes of Gerrard/Alonso/Mascherano/Kewell/Crouch/Kuyt he will score more goals and offer his other attributes that he brings in his overall game.

With Rafa at the helm he will make Torres even better and other spaniards at in the team will make him more settled. The only risk i can see is will he adapt immediately to the premiership or do we give him time to blend/get accustomed to the premiership.

All in all i think with the quality of players playing around him he will only get better.

Sounds like thats guesswork to me, Tinto:

Benítez will also hope to offload Bellamy to help to fund the purchase of a new winger, possibly Alessandro Mancini, of AS Roma, but will have to lower his £12 million valuation with Aston Villa, West Ham and Blackburn Rovers not willing to pay so much.

As far as forwards go, there are many better goalscorers but there are very few who can create like Torres can. Taking everything into consideration, his age/goalscoring ability/creativity I would say only Tevez and Eto would have been better signings for us. Even then you have to consider how disruptive Eto can be.

I said we need to go for the best available. Eto may not be available, Tevez would probably cost more. I think we've done as well as could be expected with this signing.

Too right. He will bring the best out of Kuyt.

Problem is, our club is unable to shift merchandise. They're fucking sold out no matter what.
