Just to make it weirder...

11 years on, are you still with the same Mrs J?

And if so, has she made you see the error of your pie-defiling ways?

Still with the same Mrs J

I’m less pro beans these days. Can’t remember the last time I had some of them if I’m honest.

These are an actual thing and can still be bought from many family bakeries in Ayrshire (West coast of Scotland).

But surely they're beans 'on', rather than 'in' a pie? I shouldn't like them and I hardly ever eat them but they are strangely good

When we were kids my Da ruled the kitchen/galley (a former ship's cook in his younger days) he would get home from the dock's and often make a pie of fried off sausages placed in a large oval pyrex pie dish covered by tinned beans and, in turn, covered in a thick layer of corned beef hash with grated cheese spread on the top and put in the oven while he enjoyed the benefits of a can of Double Diamond (or similar) while reading the Echo and listening to the news on Radio Merseyside at appx 234758,000000000 decibels. Us kids loved it.

You loved it until God grassed him up to social services
