I suppose I should have added Venus in Furs by The Velvet Underground to my list, AND also the absolutely ace version that The Melvins did. If nobody has heard it, there was a VU tribute album that came out a long time ago where top grunge acts did their take on songs. Nirvana did 'Here She Comes Now' and they did a great job.

The Melvins were a brilliant band, for anybody who likes Nirvana/Mudhoney/Sonic Youth/Seattle/Grunge stuff, check them out, they rocked.

A few years old yes. Some of their other stuff is class but I've never really got into them that much. They will never beat 'The Rat' anyway.

Ahhhh i'm another big fan of that song, saw it one night on mtv and it rocked very much. I play it very loud when i'm drunk as its one of those songs you can get lost in. Lyrics aren't the strongest but the music is fantastic.

Just a couple of additions;

Teddy Picker, Fluorescant Adolescant, and Old Yellow Bricks on the new Arctic Monkeys album.

Fuckin outstanding tunes, esp Old Yellow Bricks

Any tune that rips off the Knight Rider theme tune is ok by me. I happen to think that the whole of that second album is superb.

This thread is a great idea. I love those tunes that you crabk right up and sing your fucking heart out to in the car, or wherever. Like everyone, I've got loads, but the one I've been hammering this week is a tune called Right On by Ray Barretto. I only heard it for the first time this week on a CD I bought, but it's fucking ace: a latin tune with insane percussion, great horns and an ace vocal. It gets the babies bouncing in the back, which is the best indication of a tune, in my experience.
