It reminds me of when I was a van lad for Scotts Bakery delivering bread to the ships and Dock Rd pubs and things in 1976, great days and yes she had a nice voice.

Yep mate 1976, they year we moved back to Ireland from York during the big heatwave.  I was only 4 but remember so much from that summer. Great days indeed.

There were a few things I never realised; that her name is pronounced "State-on" (not "Statton") and she was a child star on the Gospel circuit, where she first met the teenage Aretha - a shy girl, who barely spoke, but blew the fucking roof off when she sang.
